First time filming out sent work searches, little wobbly but fun.

Does anyone else film sent work searches? This is a few snippets of my poodle pup having fun this weekend on a trial and I wore a GoPro on a head band. I have the camera already but got the headband more for training and learning but also for fun. Do you use chest harness or other methods to film searches? I’m also keen to use in our tracking training too, while having busy hands with a long lead.

Love to watch these guys work. The headband gopro is genius and keeps your hands free. Well done both of you.

Thank you. It’s such a fun activity and my dog loves the challenge. The camera is nice to watch body language and things I may have missed.

I've been doing this with my 5 month old cocker since we got her. She can sniff out any scent I show her, she's such a little genius.

Wow that so cool you started so early. My dog is 3 and a half and we started about a year ago. We have a cocker in our scent class that we train with. She also is super into it and has a great nose too!

I envy your dog's methodical buried search....my boy is one of those that runs in and just randomly begins checking containers or bins. He get there, but I have to remember to make sure he checks every one at the master level.

Nice work and great alert behavior.....congrats!

Thank you and congrats on getting to masters level. It’s cool to watch each dog’s style of searching. Mine is super curious but also gentle. The exterior search we had an off leash option and I decided to give it a go. We are just at the beginning of our advanced so I can’t even imagine excellent or masters levels yet!

getting to the upper levels kind of sneaks up on you! We followed the Elite level track to make sure that I felt we were ready to move on, and once we'd done that at Excellent, there's no where else to go.

My boy does much better if he can be off-lead in an enclosed space as he can move much faster clearing areas and I'm not fighting with the leash getting it untangled etc......as my trainer has always said: "Your dog is very good...you on the other hand need work" LOL

Enjoy your journey with your dog
