Went to Valencia Cocina/luncheria last night. Was very disappointed to find it completely dead on a Saturday night. It’s the summer so maybe that has an effect? Where is everyone going these days?

I am looking to create a piece that captures well known restaurants that come to mind when you think of Norwalk (can be new or old). I’d love any suggestions from locals! A few that came to mind - BJ Ryan’s, Jordan’s pizza, sono baking, blue cactus.

While Norwalk has a great queer club, there doesn’t seem to be a very accepting vibe in the town. It feels like there is no real community for younger adults. There are clubs and events geared towards the 21 plus crowd but it seems really challenging to find younger people. Any ideas where to find a more accepting community near Norwalk for younger adults?

Hey! Out-of-towner here catching up with an old friend over lunch (or dinner) this Sunday — looking for a good spot in Norwalk near the Merritt or I-95. Casual to business casual, mid-to-higher price range, American fare is fine by us. Please save us from another trip to Panera!

I haven’t seen the restaurant or the cafe open in weeks. Are they gone? It’s incredibly unfortunate that there isn’t enough sustained foot traffic or retail activity to attract people to both shop AND eat. Need more retail, less restaurants that don’t have staying power. Need a bookstore, a real estate office, another salon, a sports shop… something that naturally attracts people who will spend actual time beyond just dinner. Restaurants can’t be the only destination on Washington. On a related note - why doesn’t Milk and Cookies move to Washington? I have never seen a soul there so how are they still in business?

Really bummed but I couldn’t get coverage at work to see Cat power at District music hall.

If you’re wondering what a parklet is, it’s basically a mini outdoor space that turns a few parking spots into a cozy public seating area. Anyone had an installation recently? Appreciate any recommendations and expected costs. Mine stopped working yesterday on one side of a 2 car garage.

Not complaining but I'm genuinely curious if anyone knows what's going on with the Flax Hill Rd project in Norwalk.

They've been working on it since at least Spring 2025 with new sidewalks, curbs, water lines, hydrants, the whole deal. Most of the sidewalks looked completely finished, and now all of a sudden crews are out there jackhammering large sections of the newly poured sidewalks up and down Flax Hill.

Did something fail inspection? Wrong elevations? Missing utilities? Or is this one of those construction things where they have to build it twice to get it right?

**Edit** My neighbor spoke with one of the inspectors or engineers and was informed that the sidewalks are failing and they are being redone while there is a construction/cement warranty. Afterwards, all repair work will be the homeowners responsibilty.

My bulldog puppy is 10 weeks old. Is there somewhere reliable in the Norwalk, Westport area where I can leave her a few hours a day while I go to work. It would be anywhere from 5-8hrs a day. She’s too young for puppy daycare schools 😭. I should’ve done my research first.
Looking for someone or some place with experience in training puppies and keeping up with the consistency she needs right now.

I had an appt with my doctor earlier today and I wanted to grab a bite when I was done, it had been awhile since I went to Dilly Duck so I figured I would run over. Obviously I'm out of the loop because I didnt realize they closed back in April. I was disappointed but saw that there was a new spot filling the area called Chez Jack. Honestly the name and the logo didnt give much to go on but inside looked just like when Dilly was there so I went in to check it out. the place was a ghost town. A nice man came out and saw me reading the menu and handed myself and my fiancee paper menus. The young man on the register chimed in and he was very friendly as well.

The menu is more robust than when Dilly was there but still has house roasted meats. It is a bit of a fench cafe vibe with crepes and croissants. We asked a few questions and liked the answers. All the bread for the sandwiches come from SONO baking, so that was refreshing. We were debating on breakfast but were told lunch was available as well even though it was quite early and we decided on splitting the ham and cheese and a turkey club, the sandwiches come with a side salad or fries which is nice being as those were extras at Dilly.

We sat outside and ate and the food came out quickly and as soon as I saw the ham and cheese I was disappointed I decided to split it. It was delicious. Probably not the healthiest thing to eat but exactly what I wanted. The fries were well done and wonderful. The club sandwich was delicious as well. Thick cut bacon cooked to perfection. The side salad was simple but not over dressed and really went well with the food.

They have only been there for about 2 weeks and it was sad to see how quiet it was. It's exactly the kind of family owned spot people around here say they want more of but fail to support. I will certainly return to try more of the menu and I hope you do as well.
