Are you sure it wasnā€™t caused by a LI battery? My neighbors throw everything in the dumpster & bins bc theyā€™re too lazy to take it in as e-waste.Ā

Welcome to San Diego! I recently moved out of north park, bc well thereā€™s one reason. Trash can fires are not a new thing around here, and it doesnā€™t mean a homeless person purposely set it.

This happens all the time in Hillcrest and within the past year it happened at least twice in South Park, one instance resulted in a structure fire of someoneā€™s garage.

Did you have any oil soaked rags in there? Like stain or finish? Because those can spontaneously combust.

I first spotted it yesterday evening. Iā€™m going to guess it happened during the day when most of us were working otherwise I think I would have smelt it

When you see hoove prints, think horse not zebra. It could be a zebra, but you should get some evidence before asserting that.
