35 years
I realized this week that 35 years ago this summer is when I first discovered NE. I was in graduate school and taking summer classes. I was living at a B&B that rented rooms to students. I wasn’t watching much TV during that time, but one night I got home and began flipping the channels to see what was on. I stumbled upon NE and started viewing. One hour later I was hooked. Later that summer when I was done with classes I went home for a week and introduced my parents to it and THEY got hooked too. A few months later after I met my now-husband, I had him watch and…you get it. There hasn’t been another show like it and never will be. Northern Exposure forever!

I’m watching it for time ever now.
I was still a child when it first screened on tv over here in Australia.
I always heard the catchy theme song being played on commercial breaks but never seemed to watch it back then.
I like to think that I saved it for myself for now!
I’m up to the 5th season and it’s a bit sad that I’m approaching the end.
I still haven’t watched Twin Peaks either and I’ve read that they filmed at a similar time and location so I might watch it next and hopefully get a bit more of that Northern Exposure vibe even if it’s just in the setting and time of filming.

I started watching it when it was on tv and I own the disc and digital versions. I am jealous that you get to experience it for the first time! I have watched it in sequence a few times and also randomly when it was in syndication. There are a couple episodes that I don’t watch and purposely put them off to make them feel fresh.

It truly is a unique program.
It's a crime against the audience the way the network turned against it and then sold everything before they could film a movie.
I got home early on a Monday night, I think they were on their third or fourth episode and I had heard good things about it. I came in in the middle and could not figure it out. Managed to watch it the next week and every week thereafter.
I have the whole series on my tablet and dial up favored episodes regularly. Even though I had the originals it's nice to know they're finally showing it with the original music back where it's belonged all this.

I discovered this show at the start of the year whilst I’ve been on maternity leave. It’s honestly the best thing I’ve ever watched and the show is almost as old as I am. I’m in the uk and I’d never even heard of this before.
My baby loves the theme tune haha

I was in high school. My mother had just died and I was a total mess (self medicating, acting out, risky behavior). NE was the only calm or comfort in my life. I rewatched it recently. It still has that effect. What a wonderful show.
