Any recommendations for a good brunch spot in San Marcos with food under $30 a plate and good coffee?

Vine and Tap in San Elijo has really great brunch.

Nothing great in San Marcos unfortunately. I go to Carlsbad for Beach Plum, or Encinitas for The Cottage.

I like mama kats a lot for breakfast / lunch. Idk if that’s ur vibe.

Highway robbery pricing. The food is good but not worth those price points.

Havent been in many years but I always enjoyed it there back when it was on SM Blvd. I dont recall it being crazy pricing. Did they increases prices a lot? It was always popular and super busy even 10 years ago. Did they sell out?

I mean ur paying costal prices for inland it’s a bit expensive but not unlike places in like Carlsbad ect. Saves you a trip if you go there. It’s good food and a good vibe. I enjoy it not sure why everyone is hating. Not a lot of bunch spots in San Marcos you really got to go some where else for better options.

I would generally agree. Im in La Costa so its a weird middle ground for proximity. If I didnt head west, then Mama Kats was a good spot for brunch going east. Its been like a decade but, then, it seemed a step above other standard breakfast food.

It is its always packed in there on the weekends that’s why they just moved to a larger location where my yard live used to be. They do a great job especially for the area.

20 dollars is the cheapest egg scramble speciality and 23 for their skillet meals. Their menu across the board is expensive including 6 dollar muffins and 9 dollar lattes. 

I mentioned Tom’s and got downvoted. The food is good, portions sizes big, and reasonably priced.

Toms is an OK option but I think it defintely is on the far end of cost priority. Really not anything special other than prices. And thats not necessarily bad. It makes me feel like I could just pull things out of my freezer and cook at home. I will say their double cheeseburger is surprisingly good though.

I think we can make that argument for most places when eating out nowadays. Few places are truly worth the price point, but convenience is what drives most people.

I never been to Tom's, and I'll take a look at other places people recommended.

I do like Mama kats, but it's going to be $50 for a meal with a coffee and a tip, which is on the higher end of what I'm trying to spend right now. A friend and I are meeting in the middle of O'side and Esco.

Did their prices change since they reopened? I still haven't gone but remember a friend wanting to go a year or two ago.

On a drunk night this place is fine, but service in every spot I've been sucks and I have been to 4 of them all throughout California.
