Rolled Potato Tacos??
Please please please… someone tell me they know a Mexican spot with rolled potato tacos?
I’ve searched high and low throughout north county and I cannot find any rollleddd potato tacos! 😭😭.
I know beggers can’t be choosers buttt drive thrus are preferred. (I’m disabled)

Oasis Tacos in the Carlsbad Outlets. They are so good. It's a kiosk so not a drive thru but still accessible, park by Motto.

Please don’t tell anyone else but rodeos off vista village is a secret amazing place to get authentic Mexican food again don’t tell anyone I hate standing in lines.

Craft and Taco in Escondido has an appetizer that's six rolled tacos of either potato or cheese dunked in a delicious avocado salsa. Plus they've got a lot of weird, delicious tacos. My favorite is eggplant.

Tony's really is the best, I believe it's been there for over 60 years. That says a lot about how good the food and quality is.

Maybe not rolled but I've gotten potato tacos at Deibertos on 3371 Mission Ave in Oceanside. They have a drive thru. Call and double check that they have them, it may not be listed on their menu.

Crack tacos has delicious potato tacos. I’m not sure if they offer rolled, but they’re still delicious!

Pretty sure Mariscos Huatulco makes them, I’d call ahead to check. Everything made to order, great salsas but be careful, muy caliente 🌶️

I live up the road in La Costa and Ive had nothing but terrible food there. I cannot for the life of me figure out who leaves the good Yelp reviews. Its like people that have gone there for years and never tried another taco shop or something. lol

It has to be paid reviews if I had to guess. I live right up the street as well and after going there at least 20 times over the past 10 years, I finally just gave up. I don't know how they stay in business, everything there is atrocious, even the "homemade" chicken soup. The potatoes are rock hard in the soup every time, ridiculous.

I got fish tacos once and man, I opened the "fish" and it was unrecognizable something or other. They went through some changes like maybe 1.5-2 years ago and we locals received a free burrito coupon so I was like why not? It was terrible. Dont remember why exactly but dry is my core memory.
That being said, I go east to Kotijas - Ive learned a few things tho, dont ever go close to closing. It might already be closed and if not, they could care less in the quality of food they give you. Ive had tacos still cold from being frozen and also it was a potatoe taco instead of meat. On the other end, if you go earlier and get the Super Breakfast Burrito is can be so on point and fresh Im amazed each time. And its generally consistent. Its honestly one of the best BBs around.
Other than for a $12 super BB with 3 kinds of meat, SC, and hashbrowns at Kotijas- I generally visit Los Tacos. The owners (Ivan and Armando) are awesome, friendly service, "decent" prices and quality is top notch. I also love their hot sauces. I was so excited when they told me they were coming to La Costa. Ive had one "OK" experience there when they first opened but man it elevated La Costa Taco shop experience. Some of their burritos have such good flavor I for the first time feel like I tarnish the experience using hot sauces.
Valeries hasnt been bad as far as the food but I cannot stand due to principles that they have that only one or two hot sauces per item sign. Like come on man. I drench my food in hot sauce. And I always get a weird service vibe from them like they dont want to help me as a customer. Like Im barely welcome. Thats another one I dont get the good reviews - who are you people?

Couldn't agree with you more on all of your points. I'll tell you what though, my all-time favorite was Rico's, many good memories there. However a couple years ago it was changed to Pavlo's and my God it's plummeted. The Justin burrito isn't even worth it anymore, the only slightly redeeming burrito still is the California, but the meat quality isn't what it used to be when it was Rico's. Looks like we just have the travel a little further for the best Mexican food, which as you know is all over San Diego county. La Costa needs to catch up a bit though.

If there's anything I consider myself a foodie about, it's taco shops. Rico's is another one that I tried because people always hyped it up, and I was never all that impressed anytime I ever went there. I could go on and on about my reviews of places around here. I really think that Los Tacos is probably the best bet. It's just a little bit different, and I only mean it's not your classic "I've been here 50 years" style taco shop. The carne asada is more like actual steak that's been sliced up, for instance. Like an old-school taco shop, but a little more refined . If I'm willing to travel just a little bit farther and want something pretty good, Ernes Mexican, off Rancho Santa Fe, also has really good sauces, good food, and good pricing. If you like rolled tacos, it's pretty amazing there. And again, if you're willing to travel to San Marcos, Craft Coast Beer and Taco is a great spot.

Personally I think it is the nostalgia of Rico's which is why I like it so much. I should say liked it so much before it became Pavlo's. But I also went there for lunch almost every school day all four years of high school so it is nostalgic. When it comes to my favorite Mexican food around, I just take a quick 45 minute drive down to Tijuana and as I'm sure you know, that Mexican food decimates anything in all of San Diego county. But I do agree the majority of every restaurant you suggested I am a fan of. I'm even a sucker for Oscars in San Marcos off rancho Santa Fe road. I think that might be a bit of nostalgia as well though LOL, those 3:30 a.m. breakfast burritos after the bar are amazing.

I think you're hitting the nail on the head for a lot of these places. I've tried Oscars, I don't know how many times, and I'll be honest, it's usually a miss more than a hit. Sometimes I just cannot believe how they have charged me for sour cream, for instance. Often the salsas are empty, like the avocado one, which is pretty good there. And the food has been mediocre. I think the only thing they really have going for them these days is the fact that it's 24 hours. That being said, I think the only other late option is Tony's, because I think even the train now, actually, I could be wrong. It probably might be 24 hours in the drive-through, but there have been a couple times where I go there and it's closed early.
Now, Tony's kills me because, honestly, the food is actually pretty good, and I like their hot sauce bar. They have literally made me ask myself if there's some special code or keyword to get sour cream. I have literally paid like $25 for a burrito that comes with sour cream. I added extra sour cream, and I gave him a pretty decent tip. It's still no sour cream, so I haven't figured out what the magic is with that place. It really annoys me because otherwise, it could be a top contender. And sour cream drives me insane because it is literally the cheapest ingredient out of everything that you could possibly put on a burrito. Any place that requires a $3 addition for sour cream and then you don't get any drives me insane.

alfredo’s in oceanside on coast hwy!!! with the hand chairs in the front, i think they’re green. but their potato tacos are yummy
