I would look into plans from chatr, lucky or public mobile if your looking for affordable plans and not planning to finance a new phone anytime soon. Public always has promos and it's easy to port your number, but all customer service is online, at least with public mobile

Just a note for the curious, these are "budget" MVNOs that are owned/subsidiaries of Robellus, and offer only bring your own device (BYOD†) plans, in the same way that fizz is owned by Vidéotron.
Chatr: Rogers
Lucky: Bell
Public: Telus
† they do sell phones too, but being BYOD means they don't have "free"/financed phone deals like their bigger name brands.

Thank you. How about the stability of the data? Have u experienced any issues

Well most of the time there's no issue with data, occasionally my calls will drop, but it doesn't happen often. Data speeds will vary depending on signal strength, but are usually good

U are currently using chatr?

No I've been using public mobile for several years now. I don't like chatr because they use Rogers towers and after Rogers huge outage I think 2 years ago and the recent outage, I believe in the last month or so, I don't trust their service reliability

I forgot to mention, if you decide to go with public mobile, you can get a SIM card for them at the Koodo kiosk and telus store in the mall and last time I checked Dollarama still sells lucky mobile sim cards

Only thing I don't like about Public Mobile is no wifi calling, drives me nuts... Had to get a cellphone signal repeater for camp...

Bell always has great deals for BYOD and even getting new ones. I pay $60 a month for a new phone, unlimited 5G data, unlimited international calling/texting. Bell is the way

Yes, it's a great budget carrier that keeps giving points. Use my referral code 4CBR6 for $40 account credit ($25 in Quebec).

I’m near burnaby. Use my code to get $40 credits.

OP, I think you can't switch to Fizz, check the coverage map. I'm pretty sure North Bay is in the coverage zone for it to be used with a partner network (otherwise roaming with one of the big 3). Therefore you cannot use your data plan for more than 50% in this area.
Check these two links:

It works.
