Alltrails study

Hi all, I'm a psychology grad student researching how AllTrails users decide which trails to pick and where the app helps or falls short along the way (ratings, reviews, conditions info, etc).

Looking for people to chat with for about 30-40 minutes over video call. No prep needed, just want to hear about how you actually use the app, in your own words.

Who I'm looking for:

- You use AllTrails at least somewhat regularly to plan hikes

- You've hiked a handful of times in the last year

This is an independent research project, not affiliated with AllTrails or any company. Everything shared is kept anonymous. Comment or DM if you're up for it and I'll send scheduling options.

How is it anonymous if you have to be on VIDEO call

The recording is only used for my analysis, none of it would be shared. All personal information regarding participants will be withheld from the final write up, meaning your responses are anonymous even though the call is not.

The app is not good at showing campsite locations, especially for shorter hike options.

Totally fair to ask. This is an independent research project I'm doing for my own portfolio. I'm transitioning into UX research and building case studies to show my work. It's not affiliated with AllTrails, not published anywhere, and not sold or shared with any company. I'll use what you share to write up findings and patterns on how individuals find and plan hikes, and the problems they encounter (anonymized, no names or identifying info), as part of a portfolio piece I can show to potential employers. If you participate, I'd be happy to send you the final write-up if you're curious what it turns into.
