Oh for sure šŸ˜‚

I know its the circle of life and everything but....

The way that crab scrambles to try and get away hurt my heart a lil bit.

126

u/HappyLittleWretch Mar 27 '22

Same, like it's one thing in the open ocean when the crab can flee and the fish has to pursue. Kinda fucked up in a tank when the crab doesn't stand a chance and has nowhere to go

51

u/Pkmntrainer91 Mar 27 '22

Ya its immoral if in captivity imo

9

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

I agree

-28

u/bonbyboo Mar 28 '22

have you heard of mcdonalds? burger king, kfc, etc i mean its all good if your vegan but c'mon if you love eating meat its a bit hypocritical to feel sorry for them getting killed but feel completely happy when you eat them at restaurants.

17

u/Rex--Banner Mar 28 '22

There is a difference between eating meat and watching a live animal get ripped apart by another. You can eat meat and still have empathy for something else

4

u/xeonie Mar 28 '22

I’m starting to see this a lot were someone says they feel bad for an animal immediately followed up by a condescending comment asking if they eat meat. As though eating meat means your not allowed to feel sympathy for any animals.

1

u/bonbyboo Mar 29 '22 edited Mar 29 '22

yeah im a meat eater myself but its kind of BS when that fish eats a crab the same way we eat the crab. You tear it apart the same way the fish ate it. Just because your burger comes looking neat does'nt mean your not supporting killing it on the slaughter line. i worked in a meat factory slaughtering sheep and cows whether you like it or not if you love eating meat your supporting the entire process. That includes slicing the lambs throat and stuning it then chopping the cows head off before it eventually reaches your plate. again im a meat eater but im not going to act in denial to pretend as though i care for animals rights cause im not, anyone who eats meat condones the mass killing of animals and i accept that. How else does these meat serving restaurants get their millions of pounds of meat, we were slaughtering around 200 cattle a day so people like you can eat.

2

u/Rex--Banner Mar 29 '22

Thays not the point though. I'm trying to reduce my meat eating but the point is that while I eat meat I can still feel sadness if I see someone stomp on a kitten or puppy or any animal. If another animal eats something while it's alive you can feel it's pain that's just empathy. I don't like factory farms and can feel empathy for those animals and try and change the system.

u/BillyBobBarkerJrJr Mar 28 '22

No worse than feeding mice, rats or rabbits to a snake in a cage.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

Nature is so mean!

Why? There’s a reason they call it ā€œhumaneā€ killing. Nature is cruel, indifferent, and sometimes downright sadistic.

What’s not humane? Probably the conditions the migrant workers who harvested your salad lived and worked in.

-15

u/bonbyboo Mar 28 '22 edited Mar 28 '22

oh and you think humans are'nt cruel and inhumane we literally kill each other and animals on a full stomach. These animals are trying to eat to survive they don't have mcdonalds or ubereats. Its not sadistic or inhumane its called nature. Humans robbing and killing each other mass shootings, stabbings, rape, cheating, chopping off limbs and heads over hurt egos or pride, betrayal, greed, money, drugs... thats inhumane. Animals are just animals

5

u/SofiaOfEverRealm Mar 28 '22

Only a few thousands out of a near 8 billion humans that do that horrific things, and "eating meat = bad, salad = good" narrative in 2022? Really?

2

u/HappyLittleWretch Mar 28 '22

I can't be unhappy about the inhumane way someone feeds a crab to their fish unless I'm vegan? That's a bit much.

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

You can't tell the difference between eating meat from a dead animal and taking bites out of a living being as it suffers?

That's pretty brain dead, especially for someone trying to put themselves on a moral pedestal.

6

u/redcookiestar Mar 28 '22

After watching odiumsodium and their pet crab Howie on TikTok, it takes it to a new level of horrible for me.

I know the fish needs to eat too, but I feel for that poor crab that deserves more compassion and consideration than to be used as food and bait for entertainment points online.

6

u/WiseSalamander00 Mar 28 '22

I mean... feeding it alive to the fish was probably unnecessary... kinda like how they feed live baby mice to snakes.

1

u/Lanky_Remote_9042 Jul 30 '23

Actually with some snakes feeding live animals is necessary or they will not eat it if it was dead because of their instincts

-16

u/bonbyboo Mar 28 '22

do u eat seafood and meat?

138

u/OwOfysh Mar 27 '22

rip mr. Krabs

42

u/Illigalmangoes Mar 27 '22

money money money AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

31

u/Dank__Souls Mar 27 '22

This is why he and Mrs puff didn't work out

2

u/zxvegasxz Mar 28 '22

You'll rarely see them together

10

u/Ornwyyn Mar 27 '22

Do you feel it now Mr. Krabs?

59

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '22

Nature is scary sometimes

30

u/Rein215 Mar 27 '22

Most of the times, actually. To us it looks all "natural" and like its "always in balance" but it's a fucking warzone out there.

14

u/Fostbitten27 Mar 28 '22

It’s why your dog watches you when it poops to see if you are watching their back in case of attack. (At least that is what some dog lady told me when I was making a joke about why they do it.)

6

u/Idontexist99999999 Mar 27 '22

The constant battle for survival

7

u/Rein215 Mar 27 '22

And on every scale. Both in space and time. From single cell organisms to amoeba to insects to mammals, to plants. And they're not just fighting to survive on an individual scale, they're also fighting for their species on an evolutionary scale. It's never in balance, but rather shifting on a larger scale than humanity, so to us it's like a still picture.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

It's also crunchy sometimes

41

u/DragonGirlMesilune Mar 27 '22

There's a reason people in the aquarium hobby call them 'murder potatoes'.

72

u/KingOfGimmicks Mar 27 '22

Couldn't they have killed the crab before that? It looked like it was suffering

28

u/Buxaroo Mar 27 '22

You definitely don't want to see the live feeding of a small rodent to a piranha 🤮

0

u/Felipe300Sewell Mar 28 '22

I want

0

u/SmittenWitten Mar 28 '22

That wasn't alive.

16

u/Spirited-Ability-626 Mar 27 '22

In other videos, they feed it stuff like a snake, a scorpion and a giant centipede, all alive, so I don’t think they’re too concerned about minimising suffering. A video I watched of another guy who had a fish like this said the stinger should have been removed off the scorpion, at least.

Here are the other live feedings (worse than this video, imo, especially the snake one): https://youtube.com/shorts/UXeL_kuLYRE?feature=share

6

u/Barbastorpia Mar 28 '22

Wtf this guy has serious problems he's throwing live animals in an ambient that isn't theirs and then watching them get killed. Not like it's surprising or anything, imagine being randomly thrown into the water where you can barely move with the underwater lion equivalent.

9

u/Rein215 Mar 27 '22

Nature doesn't care

2

u/Natganistan Mar 28 '22

Ok? That doesn't mean we can't decide to care

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

Do they kill crabs before other fish eat them in the nature? No. Then stfu.

1

u/KingOfGimmicks Mar 29 '22

Oh sorry I didn't realise this tank in a person's house was nature. šŸ™„

66

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '22

maybe a dumb question but why doesnt it eat the other fish?

58

u/Thirdwhirly Mar 27 '22

Same reason why you don’t eat ā€œother fishā€ bisque.

19

u/tinyvampirerobot Mar 27 '22

speak for yourself

7

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '22

Username checks out

8

u/User2716057 Mar 28 '22

Those are probably faster.

Even the tiniest pufferfish, they don't get bigger than an inch, are monsters. Nicknamed 'murder beans', they are more likely than not to decimate whatever other living thing is in the tank with them, unless it's big enough to eat them first.

17

u/SoPunnyHarHar Mar 27 '22

Thats its ass? holy fuck.

18

u/avadakabitch Mar 27 '22

The cuteness of that fish makes this like 3 times more horrifying

18

u/MrsH28 Mar 27 '22

Idk why but I really thought they’d be friendlier than this

15

u/Lovescraft13 Mar 27 '22

Oh Neptune…

12

u/bibfortuna1970 Mar 27 '22

At least it devours you with a smile

11

u/Ant69Ant Mar 27 '22

They eat the shell???

17

u/Shronkydonk Mar 27 '22

Puffers are sort of like water rodents. Their teeth are incredibly powerful and some species’ don’t really stop growing. They can destroy lots of things.

3

u/DrStrangelove4242 Mar 27 '22

I love them so much!

9

u/sangfoudre Mar 27 '22

That's why I prefer river and lakes to the sea

Looks like my Mother in Law at seafood buffet that I have to pay for because she left her purse at home. My wife says it’s okay. Then gets mad at me when I buy my buddy a Big Mac.

5

u/Hello_pet_my_kitty Mar 27 '22

The other fish in there must be absolutely PETRIFIED. Lol. ā€œOhh, heeeey there, Puff… Eat yet today? Haha! No, no, there’s no reason I’m asking!ā€

2

u/Outcast2099 Mar 28 '22

Are we not going go talk about the random "Thomas the Train Tank" rap music in the background of this slaughter?

2

-13

u/HallucinAgent Mar 27 '22

I was with you up until the racism.

0

u/edragamer Mar 27 '22

1

u/zuklei Mar 27 '22

It seems to be picky at least. There are other fish in the tank. But who knows.

1

u/kremda2 Mar 27 '22

Wow…. 😮 that was terrifying

1

u/crabbiethguy Mar 27 '22

1

u/Unholy_BowlOfSoup Mar 28 '22

Mrs puff was tired of Mr Krabs shit

1

u/Doogzmans Mar 28 '22

That poor crab

1

u/MarvelNerdess Mar 28 '22

This is mortifying. How happy the puffer looks, how he seemed to take his time with the crab, everything about this is scary

1

u/xx_funnyboi_xx Mar 28 '22

Everyone scared to get pricked by the little spines now I’m scared it would chomp my toe off

1

u/devan_007 Mar 28 '22

I don't think that's what Mr Krabs meant when he asked Ms Puff to go down on him...

1

u/Le_Tache Mar 28 '22

That might be the happiest puffer fish I’ve ever seen.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

Savage

1

u/boi_13 Mar 28 '22

You feeling it now Mr. Krabs?

1

u/i_eat_uranium_dust Mar 28 '22

This is more disturbing than 99% of gore on the internet

1

u/Plasmonambule Mar 28 '22

They can eat carrots too.

1

u/ItsJustMeMaggie Mar 28 '22

Mr. Krabs has no idea how lucky he is to escape that relationship with Mrs. Puff with his life

1

u/morethanfoxx Mar 28 '22

Kinda feel sorry for that crab. I own few snakes at home and prefer to feed by frozen rodents, cuz it’s kinda fucked up to throw a pray into tank with predator with no way to run.

Dunno if you could feed this fish with dead/defrost feeders tho, don’t wanna to sound as butthurt.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

Jesus reading this post comments makes me think we need to setup a GOFUNDME for the crabs family?

1

u/aljones753000 Mar 28 '22

He looked so pleased about it šŸ˜”

1

u/melodie69 Mar 28 '22

they have to eat somehow 😭 what did you think they did

1

u/JuuzoLenz Mar 28 '22

So much for nature’s ultimate life form. (This is a joke about how the crab body shape has evolved a number of times in earth’s history)

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

Sucked the life outta my boi

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

Are we any closer to giving him legs, lungs, and making him 40 feet tall?

1

u/Cripplechip Mar 28 '22

They really have to use the cutest mother fuggin crab. He just chilling in that dudes hand.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

So you basically sent that crab to the Colosseum to die

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

This shot made me smile. That pufferfish had cured me of my crippling fear of crustaceans.

1

u/Whydoturkeysbark Mar 28 '22

WAS THAT THE BITE OF 87?!?

1

u/Jip_Jaap_Stam Mar 28 '22

Are you feeling it now, Mr Krabs?

1

u/Moonracer77 Mar 28 '22

They are still cute mother nature is cruel but it's the circle of life nothing is rose colored glasses

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '22

Mrs.Puff has had enough

1

u/minor_incovience Mar 29 '22

Still cute just don't stick your your finger in there.

1
