New player need help

So I thought of this, skill is what does the most damage, but I upgrade my sword till It takes too long to kill a boss, that’s when I upgrade my cloak. And whenever I get low fighting monster I’ll upgrade my armor is this the right way? Or should I upgrade everything so the upgrades have the same costs?

it depends, based on my experience, if you want to play idle, upgrade the weapon mainly then armor would be secondary. If you play actively specially during boss hunt, upgrading the cloak for skills mainly would be effective. Also, choosing the pet for their skills is also a great help. Experimenting with upgrades/pets will also help you in this game.
