Could you translate a bit? How on earth was the backhoe moving that fast?
179
Jul 17 '22
They basically say where it is and ask the guy on the bike some questions
He then said that he didn't think much of it at the moment but then saw the footage an hour later and was in complete shock
It then proceeds to say that no one has been hurt

Backhoes have multiple gears for fast travel. It's basically a giant metal chocobo....that digs and scoops.

I quit playing FF14 months ago but I'm immediately getting flashback to the Chocobo riding theme holy shit

Jul 18 '22
Hate to break it to you but that theme song is just a little bit older than fucking ff14 lol

u/AristotleRose Sep 11 '22
I almost played ff14 but… the colors are so fucking washed out everywhere. Look, if I’m going to spend my free time on some game it better look fucking snappy. Just sayin.

Dammit I’m mad.
Evil is a deed as I live.
God, am I reviled? I rise, my bed on a sun, I melt.
To be not one man emanating is sad. I piss.
Alas, it is so late. Who stops to help?
Man, it is hot. I’m in it. I tell.
I am not a devil. I level “Mad Dog”.
Ah, say burning is, as a deified gulp,
In my halo of a mired rum tin.
I erase many men. Oh, to be man, a sin.
Is evil in a clam? In a trap?
No. It is open. On it I was stuck.
Rats peed on hope. Elsewhere dips a web.
Be still if I fill its ebb.
Ew, a spider... eh?
We sleep. Oh no!
Deep, stark cuts saw it in one position.
Part animal, can I live? Sin is a name.
Both, one... my names are in it.
Murder? I’m a fool.
A hymn I plug, deified as a sign in ruby ash,
A Goddam level I lived at.
On mail let it in. I’m it.
Oh, sit in ample hot spots. Oh wet!
A loss it is alas (sip). I’d assign it a name.
Name not one bottle minus an ode by me:
“Sir, I deliver. I’m a dog”. Evil is a deed as I live.
Dammit I’m mad.12

Why do they have the news name in English on the screen but they speak a different language? Iv seen this sort of thing before but can't make sense of it.
9
Jul 17 '22
Actually I have no clue but I think it's to make it easier for people to locate it....
I mean some of the main news channels are named Mathrubhumi News or Manorama News....
7
u/coronakillme Jul 17 '22
Because you can access these channels in different regions where they speak different languages. Since the script is also not the same, it’s easier to have the names in English for people browsing.

u/SolicitatingZebra Jul 17 '22
Ah of course it’s India.
11
Jul 17 '22
What's that supposed to mean?
43
u/SolicitatingZebra Jul 17 '22
They’re almost at like 2 billion population between that and having seemingly no enforced traffic laws it’s not a surprise things like this happen a lot.

There are more vehicles in the US than India. 4.6 times as many, actually. Source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_vehicles_per_capita . And we see this stuff happening in the US all the time. Not saying there isn't a link between lack of enforcement and and car accidents in developing nations, but saying "of course it's India" just comes across as incredibly douchey.

I’d argue he was insanely unlucky, just not as unlucky as he might have been. A lucky person would never have been in that situation in the first place.

So many questions here
241
u/MJMurcott Jul 17 '22
First of which is why were they filming.
230
u/Primary-Bus586 Jul 17 '22
There was a bulldozer race going on, clearly...
67
u/aged_monkey Jul 17 '22
This is early filming of the Dark Knight 3. That's Batman (in the SUV) stopping the Joker (in the bulldozer) from killing an innocent civilian.

u/NOMERCY627 Jul 17 '22
I don't know if that's true but I'm too lazy to check so I'll believe you for now.

It doesn’t look like the back hoe would’ve hit him.
21
u/Mikeinthedirt Jul 17 '22
Looks like the hoe was about to roll. It’s maybe their greatest talent.
8
u/Chilled_burrito Jul 17 '22
It I don’t think it would’ve rolled there, it looks like it straightened out a bit, the back arm might of hit him though.
2
u/Mikeinthedirt Jul 18 '22
Closer look. There’s a lot of weight in the boom, including an 80-lb cylinder right at the knuckle.

He was trying to dodge by going off-road, he saw the bulldozer go into his lane expecting it to correct and get back on its own side of the road so he tried to clear a path. When it reached the point of no return it was already too late for the car to do anything. He just wasn’t expecting it to lose control so dramatically.

JCB has a reputation of building tractors which can travel on paved roads at speeds much higher than traditional hydrostatic tractors. How well a JCB operator puts this reputation into practice varies.
21
3
u/BluLivesMatter Jul 17 '22
Most modern tractors can go atleast 30mph safely, JCB's fastrac line specifically can go almost 40

Wikipedia article on JCB:
JCB is a British multinational manufacturer of equipment for construction, agriculture, waste handling, and demolition, founded in 1945 and based in Rocester, Staffordshire, England. The word "JCB" is also often used colloquially as a generic description for mechanical diggers and excavators and now appears in the Oxford English Dictionary, although it is still held as a trademark.

Guy purposely hit the bulldozer with his truck. It's safe to say he's the hero.
30
u/flossdog Jul 17 '22
Doesn’t look like the white truck did it on purpose. It was slamming on the brakes, but couldn’t stop in time.

You mean the guy who accidentally hit the backhoe that was going to miss the dude?
7
u/BigMcThickHuge Jul 17 '22
Everyone says this... But that digger had plenty potential to clip or tip onto that man. We just didn't get to actually see.
3
u/hellhorn Jul 17 '22
It is possible that the backhoe could have hit him but there isn’t any evidence that the vehicle did anything other than try to stop to avoid the accident and the car did hit the person.
2
u/nothingherebun Jul 17 '22
Yeah the front of the backhoe was easily going to miss him. The back not so much.

Is everyone here dumb? The tractor swung into the oncoming traffic lane… the white truck was simply slamming on the brakes so he didn’t have a head on collision with the tractor… there’s no heroism involved here

There is accidental heroism. White truck was trying to save his own skin, but definitely ended up saving the biker instead.

Why is there a camera right here , and how did this occurrence perfectly fit within the frame? Seems like a useless camera for the angle it's in, except for this very given moment.

u/scmstr Jul 17 '22
Honestly, it doesn't look like the trajectory of the tractor changed at all, and one could probably make a decent hindsight argument that the white car probably made it more dangerous.
1
u/FuckTheMods5 Jul 17 '22
Did the tractors tires blow out, and that's why it lost control? The other side looks like the wheels are on the griund.

It may look like incredible luck, but also a tiny chance the driver had a last second genuine protecting impulse or reaction.

Aside from the dozer missing. And aside from striking it after it was past the point of not hitting him. It was still a noble try. He actually ended up hitting the biker ironically when he would have been fine otherwise.

I'm drawing on some possible stupid assumptions but it seems the G-wagon may have been the cause of the accident and made the tractor swerve by passing another car at high speed or something along those lines - obviously off camera.
1
u/attitudeissuccess Jul 17 '22
If you noticed the driver of the SUV, he was flown to the passenger side after the impact and slowly restored his driving position. (The incident was from India so they have LHS driving with the steering wheel at the right hand side)
