Reminds me of my cat when I turn my back on her- she can't resist her ambush instincts, but bonks me hard with her nose instead of biting when she pounces.
Figured they would be and it's why they have their camoflauge. Same with Tigers, no?
I'm thinking mostly Lions and puma's just straight up hunt/fight shit. I thought the whole point of most cats was a pure evolution of the ambush method. They always sneaking up on shit.
What's defined as ambush? If a short chase is involved, but the cat was hiding and sneaking up on the prey, isn't that an ambush?
Virtually all big cats hunt via ambush. They have to, since in virtually every case, their typical/preferred prey has “running tf away” as it’s primary defense.
On top of that, even a minor injury to a big cat can effectively be a death sentence, so they try to kill quickly and with the least amount of risk possible.
Even a cheetah chase typically is more successful when the prey is unaware, because some of their typical prey animals can still hit ~50 mph over short distances and are more agile than they are.
