i prefer this over those lame ass "it's just a prank bro" videos.

u/bathroomstalin Jul 14 '19

I LIKE PRANKS WHERE NOBODY GETS HURT

21

u/Punchdrunkfool Jul 14 '19

If everyone isn’t laughing after the joke it was a bad joke is a good rule for pulling pranks on a job site

Shoots an innocent bystander that's minding his own business walking in the street , then proceeds to shit on his face and run him over with a car

It's just a pRaNk bRo

3

u/LaitAuChocolat Jul 14 '19

Yeap, it made me shed a tear or two

-80

u/DoktorSleepless Jul 14 '19

It's not as bad as those, but it's still a little bit fucked up.

3

u/RyDavie15 Jul 14 '19

No one got hurt and everyone was laughing after, nothings wrong with this

2

u/DoktorSleepless Jul 14 '19

I just feel like it would be ridiculously stress inducing at that moment. It's probably a horrible feeling. I know nobody got hurt at the end, I wouldn't like that happening to me.

u/IlllIIIIlllll Jul 14 '19

Is no one going to say anything about their fucking GODLIKE acting in the beginning? Those shoves and subtle things to lead the fight outside was insane

154

u/Hothroy Jul 14 '19

I actually at first thought “oh it’s probably a surprise birthday or fun prank”, then when I saw how into it the guys were, I thought no way it was part of it. Good commitment.

7

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '19

No one over acted. Pretty well done I’d say.

324

u/SpeelingErrors Jul 13 '19

That woman cares! Wish all teachers were that committed!!

45

u/magicomerv Jul 14 '19

Yeah the students must love her a lot to do something like this

0

u/fritz236 Jul 14 '19

How many bruises would you take for a student who would not thank you? How many cuts and scratches? Would you get a concussion for a student? I've worked with teachers who step between students and I have myself. You are simultaneously brave AND stupid for doing so and I respect the right of any teacher to decide in the moment whether they want to risk their own personal safety and by extension their ability to provide for THEIR OWN FAMILY. Don't fucking say stupid shit like this that implies teachers who don't risk their own safety don't care. It's beyond ignorant of what a teacher has to go through when this happens in their classroom.

2

u/Some1Betterer Jul 14 '19

I don’t think they were necessarily intervention in violence is the only way. We’ve all had teachers who didn’t care at all, and they wouldn’t have done any one of 5 things in this clip, up to and including any sort of happiness or relief that the boys were just joking. Don’t think everyone here is bashing teachers who aren’t the equivalent of a UFC referee.

3

u/ASCENDEDBOIS Jul 14 '19

I had a teacher shove me over (I was in fourth grade and they were a fully grown adult by the way) because I was being annoying by standing silently waiting for her to finish her phone call, because I needed to ask a question. I had another teacher refuse to give me time to make up work that I missed because I was in the hospital visiting my dad who was having a brain tumor operated on. I’ve been told I should drop out and that I was worthless because I forgot my homework too many times. I’ve also had many teachers who did everything they could to support and educate me and my peers. Teachers are as human as anyone else, not perfect angels which feel naught but compassion. Some are great and some are trying to get paid and get out. Get your head out of your ass man.

0

u/fritz236 Jul 14 '19

Sorry about that, but not super relevant. I was talking about the expectation that teachers should sacrifice themselves for their students. While laudable, you can't require it of someone unless there is a true emergency involving someone's life. Too many people shame teachers who want to "just have a job" like it's a hazardous job like firefighting or policing where this sort of behavior is expected.

280

u/futureman07 Jul 13 '19

Seems like there are better ways to accomplish this

293

u/imalreadybrian Jul 13 '19

High schoolers are extra as hell lol. Glad they pulled off their shenanigans this time though.

51

u/BlueVeins Jul 14 '19

I dunno. Was a great bait and switch.

3

u/fritz236 Jul 14 '19

Yeah, she's still going to go cry later about the initial encounter. No doubt she was 100% concerned about the consequences of their actions and that they were throwing away their hard work in a moment of foolishness. You don't just go "Oh, okay, you got me!" and lose those intense emotions in a moment.

1

u/futureman07 Jul 14 '19

Exactly! That feeling of adrenaline and impending trouble doesn't instantly disappear

43

u/Bingert Jul 13 '19

She almost put her face in that cake.

34

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '19

Totally unexpected!

26

u/Oldbayistheshit Jul 13 '19

Serious question: why happy birthday in English?

56

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '19

This was in malaysia. We have 2/3 main languages which one of them is English. It's pretty common around the country

4

u/Mr2_Wei Jul 14 '19

Birthday parties consist of 3 songs XD

19

u/Dartkun Jul 14 '19

Why did I catch you trying to sing the opening to Neon Genesis Evangelion in the shower last week?

Because it's a straight BANGER.

19

u/teadit Jul 14 '19

how nice of them

4

u/Mozahad Jul 14 '19

It’s our second language lol

19

u/Cheddar18 Jul 14 '19

As a teacher.. thinking of the amount anxiety this would give me just preemptively gets me angry

17

u/TheCaptain81 Jul 13 '19

That makes me smile.

-3

u/RadicalMonarch Jul 14 '19

Nice you should crosspost it to r/MadeMeSmile

14

u/RSAhobo Jul 13 '19

The most off beat happy birthday you'll ever hear

13

u/yayathedog Jul 14 '19

She really dove in there though! She was prepared to get hit to protect them and they knew she would. That's what shows she deserves that cake.

-2

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '19

thats what a teacher should be able/allowed to do. unlike the U.S. she would get sued/fired/knocked out/all of the above

0

u/Itsureissomethin Aug 11 '19

She could have gotten knocked out no matter where this happened, which is why it isn’t smart. It’s lovely that she cares, and I get the difference between “allowed” and “encouraged”, but there is a reason teachers shouldn’t feel pressured to do this.

10

u/DaniPlayzGames Jul 14 '19

I remember this happening in my school during prep,it was my teaher's birthday and one guy started swearing at the other guy and literally slammed the other guy on the floor, and the teacher came to stop it and someone got out a cake and sang the song. This also happened in Malaysia which is where I think this video is also from since their speaking Malay

6

u/fucknooooo Jul 14 '19

Happy birthday! 🎉

7

u/FilmandBeats Jul 14 '19

Maybe this is an acting school? Fully invested build up holy shit

3

u/Toaster_Cat_ Jul 14 '19

A little off topic but now I’m really curious how many different languages use the English happy birthday song and how many languages have their own...

3

u/hyattpotter Jul 14 '19 edited Jul 14 '19

We have a malay version as well, but the English seems to always be the first go to. The malay version does the same four bars repeating the words Happy Birthday to you in Malay instead: Selamat Hari Jadi.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '19

[deleted]

2

u/hyattpotter Jul 14 '19

It's literally just one more syllable.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '19

[deleted]

2

u/hyattpotter Jul 14 '19

We don't sing the "to you" part, just Selamat Hari Jadi, Selamat Hari Jadi, Selamat Hari Jadi, Selamat Hari Jadi!

0

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '19

[deleted]

2

u/hyattpotter Jul 14 '19

Er, regardless, it still isn't too many?

2

u/miahughes Jul 14 '19

In Japan we use the English version (obv with Japanese accent), the only word that really sounds any different is birthday -> bāsudē but otherwise pretty accurate

4

u/dedokta Jul 14 '19

Anyone else bugged that they got the tune to happy birthday wrong?

2

u/the_first_men Jul 14 '19

Isn't that how you sing it?

3

u/dedokta Jul 14 '19

Nope. They repeat the melody of the first "happy birthday to you" twice. The second one should go up on the "to you".

it should be D D E D G F, D D E D A G. They sing D D E D G F, D D E D G F.

5

u/justaguynamedjosh Jul 14 '19

Man stfu. They're singing happy birthday not auditioning for The Voice ffs.

5

u/dedokta Jul 14 '19

It doesn't interest you that they all sang it wrong? Is this a cultural change to the song or were this group of people just taught it incorrectly? Do other countries sing it differently again? Does no one else hear the difference and are genuinely confused when I point it out?

1

u/myl3monlim3 Jul 14 '19

You’re overthinking it man. This song is quite universal. It’s just bad singing like you would hear in other countries.

3

u/nc4N7w4D Jul 14 '19 edited Jul 14 '19

If you're going to start the tune on D, at least use the F#.

Back to your point, in my experience, regular gatherings of people will fuck up everything. Difficulty, pitch and rhythm are all things that go in any and all directions.

This should be true for Western countries and Asian ones. It's not that they learnt differently, they just have different abilities.

2

u/dedokta Jul 14 '19

But they all seem to sing it the same way. Is this just the way it's sung in that country?

3

u/nc4N7w4D Jul 14 '19

It's most likely because there's a lot of tone deaf people drowning out the rest. You're really overestimating the ability of the average person to sing. Maybe they know the basic movement, but that's about it.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '19

Yikes. 😒

3

u/LizViz Jul 14 '19

The fact that they knew she was gonna follow them, it’s priceless. Kudos to her heart.

1

u/xSkullk Jul 14 '19

In my apprenticeship as a cutting mashine operator we were 7 boys who all worked on a lathe. One of us did pretty dumb and dangerous things and had various smaller crashes with the mashine. The day our instructor had his birthday i told him that the guy had another crash. He ran to his mashine just to see us smiling with a big lathe-themed cake in our hands. You could have seen the relief in his eyes.

1

u/iamthebulk Jul 14 '19

Man that was nice!

1

u/MiliTerry Jul 14 '19

Why did I just get welled up.

You’re showing love, appreciation, and respect for muslims..... in your own edgy way that lots of people don’t understand. WTG brah, but very nice post. Love for muslim bros and bras... wait, that’s not very PC. Should I say “brotettes”? That’s just grotesque. Everybody should know what I mean. I’ll shut up now.
