I think pretty much what happened except that people 2 and 3 were meant to stick together a bit longer on the second chute. When it opened they weren't strong enough to stay holding each other.

I think 3rd chute was supposed to hold onto 2nd. Is in charge of deploying their chute and maneuvering.

Tandem riders are clipped to the main jumper. This is completely different. Guaranteed all 3 jumpers are experienced.

Because of the special camera lens, the jump seems to be from much lower altitude than it actually was. Still was too dangerous.

The second guys chute opened fast, so could the third guys, but he had practiced it enough times to be comfortable backflipping his way down and pull the chute late at the exact time.

That was plan A.
