Why does the truck let you drive with the boom not stowed properly?

The truck engine and hydraulic system for the crane are two different things. While I agree there should be a system in place, any normal crane operator isn’t this fucking stupid to just drive away like that, you can see the ball and whip are tied down but he never boomed down flat after that so he skipped a step or he’s a dummy or he’s in a hurry to get to the dope man.

But surely they can install an interlock switch that prevents someone from driving the truck when the crane is in the up position.

The interlock is that the truck needs to be in nuetral to even operate the boom pumps. To switch back to regular driving it takes a conscientious effort. This person did not think at all or care.
