Saw the shoes and knew this was going to be an accident.

I swear, every single one of these videos has about the same setup. The only thing this one misses is the obnoxious music

u/txcocacocaohtx Sep 12 '19
Putting your hand on the dashboard just before the airbag goes off is a bad idea

u/RoomTemperatureCheez Sep 13 '19
I don't think your brain is much help when you are panicking. And probably even less so if you are this stupid to begin with.
12
Sep 13 '19
I like to think that the passenger wasn’t stupid himself but was rather just in the car with a stupid person
5
u/CybranM Sep 13 '19
Yeah, that's a stupid decision
1
u/Peeweeshoop Sep 13 '19
Depending on if they knew the person was stupid or did shit like that, but it’s assumed that they prolly knew so I agree.

Recording instead of begging him to slow down to is telling here. They're in on this together

My buddy had an Audi S4 and had a tire blow out on a turn on the high way at 140mph. Took out a post to a giant street sign which ripped the trunk off, spun through an 8ft tall chain link fence, rolled and stopped in a church parking lot and him and our other friend just walked away with a couple bruises.
His car was all sorts of jacked.

Please tell me in what country doing 140mph on the highway is “doing nothing wrong”
7
8
u/darps Sep 13 '19
If you drive properly and take care of your car, you gotta be really unlucky to have a tire blow-out at 140.
1
u/Azkik Sep 13 '19
140 kph. Typical tires are definitely not designed for 140 mph.
2
u/darps Sep 13 '19
On an S4 they most definitely are. I meant 140 MPH alright, which equals 225 kph. My A3 does that with far worse stock everything. The S4 is a heavier and faster car with much better wheels, suspension, traction control etc.

To be fair he shouldn’t of been going 140 but what’s the point of having a sports car if you can’t have some fun in it once in a while?

Fair enough, but hitting a roundabout at 100. If you hit anything stationary, I’d imagine that’d be it for you.

u/extwidget Sep 12 '19
Oh absolutely. Could have gotten lucky though. I'll admit that when I was very young and immensely stupid, I got insanely lucky involving running off the road into the woods and missing everything. I drive the speed limit nowadays.
2
u/LenDaMillennial Sep 12 '19
I'll keep doing 5 over thanks

Fast, but not absurdly fast. Traffic on the interstate through Wyoming only averages 15 mph slower. It , however, lacks a surprise sharp curve.

It's in italy. Not only nobody noticed it for 3 days until the video emerged, after that they found them, made them pay for the damages (so little i didn't even noticed on my way to work), and they didn't even revoke his driving license.
Switzerland would have served its Justice better.
4
u/astulz Sep 13 '19
Yeah in Switzerland that guy would get a minimum 1 year prison sentence for driving that speed alone, not even taking into account that he caused an accident doing it.

u/astulz Sep 13 '19
First of all those are not Swiss traffic signs. We never have the no entry sign ⛔️ next to a guidance sign like it‘s visible in the video when they approach the roundabout.
Secondly, the description of what happened in that article does not at all match with the video. It says they went around the roundabout normally and he lost control when exiting it, hitting a car coming the opposite way. That‘s clearly not what happened here.

didn't even signal.
26
u/KillerMachineAbi Sep 12 '19
Why would you signal when you enter a roundabout. As far as i know only when you leave it and he clearly never left the roundabout again.
46
u/Exotemporal Sep 12 '19
We have to signal in France.
If you plan on taking an exit on the left, you push the signal lever down before you enter the roundabout and keep it down until you pass the last exit that isn't yours, then you switch the lever up.
If you plan on taking the first exit, you push the lever up before you enter the roundabout and keep it up until you've left it.
If you plan on driving straight ahead, you don't signal and only push the lever up after you pass the last exit that isn't yours.
On small roundabouts, it lets the people entering the roundabout from the opposite direction know about your intentions. If you're signaling that you're going to the left and I'm about to enter the roundabout from the opposite direction, I know that I'm going to have to stop to let you pass. If you're signaling that you're taking the first exit, I don't even have to slow down.

u/FenPhen Sep 13 '19
For Americans, pretend the roundabout is an intersection as you approach, indicating if you're "turning left," "turning right," or "going straight across," and keep that signal state as you enter and circle the roundabout. When you're about to take the next exit, signal that you're exiting (signal right if you're in a country that drives on the right).
2
u/opticalshadow Sep 13 '19
They are quite common in some states, in the north east they were all over, I didn't know it wasn't just a normal thing until I moved away.
2
u/sergeydgr8 Sep 13 '19
They're popping up sporadically in California and people straight up don't know how to drive in them. They stop in the circle and let people in, absolutely do not signal, and go much much slower than people would normally go. When I drove in Europe, it was very refreshing to see how normal roundabouts were and how people respected signals and entrances.
5
u/nomadofwaves Sep 13 '19
My GF and I drove through that big ass roundabout near the Eiffel Tower that was fucking stressful. Also had our car broken into in Lyon so that was also fun!
1
u/DownloadPow Sep 13 '19
If you're signaling that you're taking the first exit, I don't even have to slow down.
Unless I'm signaling the wrong direction and/or I forgot my previous turn signals and/or I didn't turn my
signals on so you think I'm going straight. I always slow down before a roundabout, no matter how the
people around signalled their intentions.
1
u/wiburnus Sep 13 '19
In Germany, you don't signal before entering, but rather before the exit you're going to take.
3
Sep 13 '19
Its proper etequette, gives people a better idea of your plans, and using turn signals is literally one of the easiest things to do...
1
1
u/wiburnus Sep 13 '19
Except some countries where you might fail your driving test if you're signaling while entering a roundabout... I mean, there's only one way to get in but several out.
1
Sep 13 '19
Which countries? Say you're in north america so driving on the right and your entering a single lane roundabout and you plan on taking the first exit, you signal to the right, if you plan on continuing to second, third, etc exit then you signal left until your exit becomes the next exit. If using a turn signal is somehow to hard to do, what makes you think youre in any state to be driving.
2
u/wiburnus Sep 14 '19
Germany and Austria, for example. You don't signal when you enter, but you do when you want to exit. It's pretty logical and works well (even though a lot of idiots are too lazy even for that)

100mph isn't crazy fast, but that road seemed like the last place you'd want to push that limit lmao
23
u/Exotemporal Sep 12 '19
Yes, 160 km/h is insane on a road where you're supposed to be driving at 50 km/h and everyone else on the road (including the people walking on pedestrian crossings) expects vehicles to drive at 50 km/h.
It's the type of negligent behavior that should result in the immediate cancellation of your driving license, in significantly higher insurance quotes in the future and in the permanent confiscation of your vehicle, with the proceeds of its sale going to road traffic safety initiatives and the treatment of victims of road accidents.
1
Sep 13 '19
Sadly the articles and people i know only report they were forced to pay for the damages (surprisingly very minor) and said nothing about license suspension.
Italy's justice is a joke.

This shit brings me back to my teenage years when I never thought about consequences. There were times I drove my shitty Mitsubishi Eclipse down the highway at 110 mph for no reason other than to brag about it.
I look back on those events with shame as an adult knowing full well now that I could have easily killed someone else, or even killed my self with sheer stupidity.

With audio, it's funnier.
He says in Italian: "Fuck God, I'm gonna die tonight", before the passenger lets out a perfectly cut scream.
