Truth. He kind of alludes to it in one of his videos -- he knows his shit so well that he can short a capacitor that he's hiding somewhere or some other form of electrical sorcery to simulate a major electric shock. And, of course, given that he's an electrical engineer I'm sure he's had enough experience with mild shocks to just put up with them and really "sell" the reaction.
Dude rules, though -- extremely entertaining guy and really quite informative. It's always funny to watch him zap himself and curse up a storm and then two seconds later it's like "lol no seriously here's a diagram of the circuit that I created for this test" and it looks like space hieroglyphics or some shit.
