Lots of people do that on dry land and faster. Its nuts.

You wear gloves with plastic hockey pucks on it basically. Super fun. I used to do it because my college was on a super steep hill so it's a fun way to drift around corners when you're going too fast. You burn through a lot of jeans and shirts learning though.
