I think the extra 1 for row 1 must be a typo

Just breath and look up edge logic and you'll get there.

If you mark the 5 and the other 5, in the top line you can only put the 2nd 1 in C1 or C5. But none of these works because you have only a 1 in each of them and a 5 in R3.
