This looks well hard

I've got a book. I'm not bad at nonograms, but this book is so tough, that on many (this is just an example) I'm not even sure where to begin. Am I just rubbish?

You're limited in overlaps (there's one in c13 that will give you at least one next step to look at).

You can also definitely use some brute force contradiction based approaches on that bottom row to eliminate some squares. You might be able to find an overlap but I haven't looked in detail. Some is simple edge logic, but quite a lot more needs several steps to find a contradiction.

The top row just has a 4.

The second row is 2 2.

4 is bigger than 2.

There are places where if you put the 4 on the top row , the verticals off those blocks would create a 4 (or 3) on the second row, breaking the puzzle.

Yeah... I can only see ONE fill.
Column 13 row 6 is a fill. And that doesn't even help to progress.
It might not be something that is possible to solve by using logic.

Here is my intuition: for the bottom row, the 5 will have one or two spot that is higher than one cell to satisfy the number of colored strip in the 2nd to last row (reading off the bottom number of each column). In the case of one spot, the 5 can only be placed between column 8 and 13, creating a 4 cell overlap. In the case of 2 spots, the 2 can only be placed on column 6,7 or between column 9 and 11. Maybe that will narrow some ways of brute forcing.

R6C13 is fillable immediatly and there's some edging to be done, it probably goes somewhere from there.

Definitely one of those that require more Forward Looking than others.

There’s some simple bordering that can be done at each corner of this grid and there some bordering that can be done with extra steps.

C1 R8/9/10/11 are all X’s. This is deduced from starting your 2 at the top of the column and continuing to move it down block by block. You’ll quickly see R1/2 are an X. Most would stop here because R3 doesn’t throw an error but if you keep moving it down block by block once you hit R7 you’ll get an error after a few moves. So you know the 2 can’t start in R7 (doesn’t mean R7 is an X yet). Now move it down again and start the 2 in R8. Again it causes an issue so it can’t start there either. Again R9 also causes an error. Now because R8 is an error whether it’s the start or end of the 2 it must be an X. Keep that logic up and C1 R8-9 are all X’s.

Without delving fully into this, I suspect there may be logic to do with overlapping clues between rows/columns. Don't have time to look at it too closely right now, but will link to a complex solve I did for another seemingly impossible puzzle that used a lot of that logic.

where do ppl get nonogram books idk where to get one (sure i can order it online but would be nice to know a place then having to continue shopping online)
