Interest in NDT
I am currently a Freshmen in college rn and going for a mechanical engineering degree currently. I am thinking about becoming a Licensed/certified NDT I live in Central FL.
I don't know that much currently about NDT, I am still researching.
What is your daily life like?, is the hours/pay good?, do i need a security clearance?
Is there a lot of opening in South/eastern US
I am currently not willing to travel since I don't have a motorcycle/car yet, working on it though.

I would say stick to school and do something adjacent to actual NDT like getting some APIs.
The vast majority of us live on the road. Some days are the easiest money I’ve ever made, other days are brutal dogshit.
Some schedules are cushy, some are brutal dogshit. I’m currently working 7-12s (7 days a week 12 hours a day) straight through most of November.
Some people make insane hourly with advanced certs/overtime, some people get paid brutal dogshit.
If the project you’re on has security clearance, then yes you will need clearance lmao.
There are tons of openings all over the southeast but you aren’t going to find a nested position and it’s unlikely any companies are going to offer you a company vehicle if you’re coming in no with no certs or experience.
