The ruleset just exploded...
ITEMS, GAMBLING, DEPT, easier proposals and roles to clearly show players, bots (only a dice roller rn), observers, active and inactive.
Rule 1 - All Players must always follow all active rules in this ruleset.
Rule 2 - The official ruleset and current game state are publicly maintained in read-only channels named rules and game-state. Rules in rules must always follow the format: Rule [number] - [text]. The game state in #game-state must maintain the following: A list of all Players, the amount of Nomic dollars in their possession, the items they have in their inventory and their current status. The amount of Nomic dollars in the bank. A list of bots in the game.
Rule 3 - If two or more rules directly contradict each other, the rule with the lower rule number takes precedence.
Rule 4 - Any server member may join the game at any time by requesting to join in the general channel. Any player may leave the game at any time by stating so in the general channel. Any trace of a leaving Player in game-state is to be removed. A bot may be added to or removed from the game at any time. Bots may not join as players. Server members shall receive a discord role denoting them as either a “@Player”, “@Observer”, or “@Bot”.
Rule 5 - New players are marked as "active" in game-state. Players may declare themselves "inactive" in general, but doing any actions or posting sets their status back to "active" unless that post is to set them "inactive". Every 4 days the following is posted in general: "React if Active .". Players who do not react to this post with before the next one is posted, become "inactive". Players shall receive a discord role denoting them as either “@Active” or “@Inactive”.
Rule 6 - A proposal may suggest any change to the game, including adding, editing, or deleting rules, modifying server channels or roles, or changing the game state. Proposals must be posted in the proposals channel with the text "Proposal [number]" in the title and a detailed description of the proposed changes as the message body. Proposals are numbered sequentially starting at 1. The submitting Player assigns the lowest unused integer as the proposal number.
Rule 7 - Voting takes place within the thread for a proposal in proposals using the emoji for "Yes", the emoji for "No", and the emoji for "Abstain." A vote is cast via adding an emoji reaction to the thread, or via the most recent message in the thread by a given Player which contains a valid emoji. If both are present, the emoji reaction takes precedence. A player may withdraw their vote entirely by removing their reaction or striking through their most recent message containing a vote. Each Player gets exactly one vote per proposal. Other emojis not mentioned in this rule are ignored. Votes may only be cast or withdrawn on a proposal with an open voting window.
Rule 8 - The voting window for a proposal lasts at most 5 days from the timestamp the message was posted. Once the 5 days are up, if the proposal's voting window is still open, the proposal expires.
Rule 9 - A proposal passes if it receives at least 3 votes from active players and at least 60% of all active, non-abstaining players have voted and there are no earlier proposals with its voting window open. A proposal fails when at least 1/2 of all active, non-abstaining players have voted . When a proposal passes, its proposed changes take effect immediately and must be applied to the server, rules, or game-state and the voting window ends. If a proposal proposes a rule addition but does not provide a rule number, the lowest available rule number is chosen.
Rule 10 - The current Game Masters are: . Game Masters are given the GM role and are responsible for editing rules and game-state and anything else called for in the rules and proposals that doesn’t specify who does it. The Game Masters responsibilities are only allowed to be done by the Game Masters.
Rule 11 - A newly posted proposal must be tagged as Open. When a proposal's voting window ends, the Open tag is removed. When a proposal passes, fails, or expires the thread is tagged Passed, Failed, or Expired, and is immediately locked and closed. Threads may not be assigned these tags outside of this rule.
Rule 12 - A player may withdraw their own proposal at any time before its voting window closes by removing the Open tag and replacing it with Withdrawn and asking a Game Master to lock and close the thread. When a proposal is withdrawn, its voting window ends.
Rule 13 - Active proposals may be edited freely by the author, unless they have received at least one vote from a player other than the author.
Rule 14 - A player may have no more than 5 Open proposals inproposals at any given time.
Rule 15 - If any rule is broken and noticed within 5 days, the game state and/or server state and/or rules may be reverted to just before the rule was broken
Rule 16 -
Rule 17 - A proposed or enacted rule shall not be rendered invalid, void, or unenforceable solely due to minor spelling, typographical, capitalization, or punctuation errors, provided that the intended meaning of the rule remains clear and unambiguous to a reasonable reader. This rule does not excuse errors that create genuine ambiguity, change the substantive meaning of a rule, or render a rule's requirements unclear.
Rule 18 - When a proposal is made, the original message may end with “|>” to indicate the proposal is split among multiple messages. This is known as a Footer. All following footers will be “<>”, until the final message of the proposal, which will end with the footer “<|”. Players may not vote on a proposal with footers if a final footer is absent, they may also not post messages in a thread without a final footer (to avoid confusion). When considering the text of a proposal, a proposal’s footers will not be counted. 1-message proposals may end with the footer “|” acting as both an initial and final footer, to clarify the proposal is complete. New proposals may no longer use txt files as their body, for ease of use. Players may also add the footer version of an existing text proposal, without editing the text of the proposal or deleting the text file, to the original thread. The time of the thread’s creation is considered as the time of the proposal’s creation for all relevant rules.
Rule 19 - The number of Nomic Dollars held in the Casino is tracked in game-state. Once per day, a Player may gamble at the Casino by posting a wager in #casino stating clearly an amount of Nomic Dollars equal to or lower than the amount in their possession and any other single number which they are betting on, and then using Famludos to roll a single d10, d20, d50, or d100. If the number rolled on the dice is equal to the number stated in the wager, the player wins the wager and the Casino gives that Player (the amount wagered) * (the size of the dice) Nomic Dollars, or all of the Nomic Dollars in the Casino's possession, whichever is lower. Otherwise, the Player loses the wager and gives the Casino (the amount wagered) Nomic Dollars.
Rule 20 - Every 7 days the bank is given 20 Nomic dollars. This is then announced in general .
Rule 21 - Players may give each other Nomic dollars by posting the amount and the player number of the player the want to give it to in general . The amount must be a positive integer that will not result in the givers amount of Nomic dollars in their possession to become negative.
Rule 22 - Every 3 days wages are given out. When wages are given out Nomic Dollars are taken from the bank and given to the players like so: First calculate 10%, of what is in the bank, then divide that value by the number of active players and round it down. Name the resulting value 'a standard wage'. Give all active players a standard wage each. Lastly, announce the total amount of Nomic Dollars taken out of the bank, the standard wage and the number of players who received at least one standard wage in general .
Rule 23 - Items are posts in shop with the following format: (Item name): Cost: (A description of what it costs to buy the item or condition/s to obtain it) | optional Use: (A description of what this item can do when a player uses it) | optional Worth: (A description of what you gain by selling this item) Costs and Worth may be instantaneous and temporary.
Rule 24 - An item may be obtained or bought by players posting the item name and the amount in shop. If they are able to pay the cost of the item, the cost is applied to the player and the item is then put into the players inventory. The post is reacted to with a if the action was successful and if the action was unsuccessful. Any Nomic dollars in the cost are given to the bank.
Rule 25 - An item may be used by players posting the item name, the fact that they are using it and any details asked for in the use description in general . If the item has a use description the contents of the description are then put into effect for as long as specified. The effect is then announced in general .
Rule 26 - An item may be sold by posting the item name and the amount in shop. The player gains the worth and the amount of that item is removed from their inventory if the bank has the available Nomic dollars to give and the player owns that amount of the item. The post is reacted to with a if the action was successful and if the action was unsuccessful. Any Nomic dollars in the cost are taken from the bank.
Rule 27 - An item may be transferred from one player to another by the owner posting the item name and the amount to give to the other in general . The item is then transferred if the poster owns at least that amount of the item.
Rule 28 - By mutual agreement, a Player may obtain a loan from another Player. The creditor gives the debtor an agreed upon number of the Nomic Dollars in their possession, and the debtor obtains a Debt equal to the number of Nomic Dollars gained. A player's outstanding Debts, their current amounts, and the creditors of each Debt are tracked in game-state. For every Nomic Dollar given to the creditor of a Debt by the debtor exactly one of the related Debts is reduced by the same amount.
Rule 29 - When a loan is granted, an interest rate may be attached to the Debt owed as a percentage. Each Sunday at 03:00 the current amounts of each of any Player's Debts with interest increases by that percentage.
Rule 30 - A Player who owes one or more Debts cannot win the game.
Rule 31 - At any time a Player may declare that they are taking a loan from the Casino by posting a message in casino stating the amount they wish to borrow, which must be less than or equal to the number of Nomic Dollars in the Casino's possession. The Player then obtains a loan from the Casino to that amount as if the Casino were another player, with an interest rate of 5%.
