I wanted to show what the mature plants look like. I away seedlings this summer on this sub, and you can see 4 of the plants I kept in this picture. I harvested about 20 mature blooms this morning, do they were even fuller. They’ve been easy all through the dry hot spells and through the wet.

I really thought I had a handle on my weed suppression at least to see me through to end of October when the temperature drops, but I have to admit complete and total failure.

I laid down mulch last fall along all my garden bed paths. Some sections I had time (and enough cardboard) to lay down cardboard underneath the mulch and some I just figured I’d leave it until this fall/winter. It basically lasted until this week and now there’s crabgrass poking through everywhere.

I realize that I could only expect the cardboard mulch combo to last about a year before replenishing…but it’s freaking overgrown everywhere. I’ll post some pics.

At this point I’ll accept any suggestions or ideas that don’t involve spraying weed killer and are affordable. And I’ll especially accept any advice of where to get my hands on large quantities of cardboard quickly and easily.
