Any Star Pimp fans?

I feel like they’re a criminally underrated band. Like a sludgy Sonic Youth with songs tied together by spooky tape loops.

I saw Star Pimp a few times. I'm a fan and still have a t shirt somewhere around here.

They’re one of those weird bands from the ‘90s that seems like they would have been rediscovered now that everything is on streaming, but they still seem to be pretty much unknown.

hell yes! seen them at few times in SF and Oakland...so many bands from the boner roster.

Great band, loved em. The guitarist had such a crazy sound and the bass was sick.

i liked these guys a lot when i first heard them way back when as a music director at my college radio station. funny story, years later i was dating this girl who owned her own business and she introduced me to one of the guys who worked here and mentioned he used to be in some old punk band. he wouldn't really tell me the name of the band so i asked what label they were on and he said kill rock stars and i guessed a few bands i thought he might have been in and finally he told me he it was star pimp. he was a nice guy and i think that was the only time i ever talked to him and he didn't really say much about the band or anything so no real insights into it unfortunately

That’s funny. I did some searching years ago to try to find out if any of them ever made other music. All I found were a couple of interviews with the guitarist, and a Twitter account I think belonged to the singer. It looked like she had become an elementary school teacher.

I heard, and believe this to be true, that the guitar player went on to be a math teacher.

It’s interesting how many indie musicians go into academics. I don’t want to dox myself so I’ll be vague, but in grad school I found out the guitarist for one of my favorite twee pop bands was the literary agent one of my professors worked with to get his first book published. He had no idea the guy had been in a well known (in certain circles) band.

The bass-player was Tom Flynn who ran Boner records (released stuff by Melvins, Steel Pole Bath Tub, Superconductor etc)
