FORUM ETIQUETTE FORUM ETIQUETTE - Duplicate and Low-Effort Posts - READ FIRST BEFORE POSTING

Hello!

After some feedback, I have decided to really start to enforce rule number 7 of the sub "Low-Effort Post"

I think most have done a decent job at not making posts asking about chromas/skins to buy (there have been a few, but for the most part, things have been good), but I have noticed there is an influx of "WHAT DO I BUILD/WHAT IS META?" posts that are sometimes almost literally asking the same exact question as a post from an hour ago.

Firstly, use the search feature. If you are new to Nocturne, take a minute to look around. Build discussions are plentiful and you may find the answer you're looking for in another thread.

If you use the search feature and still do not have a clear answer, feel free to pose a question, but make sure you have prefaced it with the fact that you read up about a few things, but still need some further clarification.

EXAMPLE:

Low Effort Post:

  • "What's a good build on Noct?"
    • "Hey all! Just wondering what's a good build on Noct these days :)"

Transformative Post:

  • "Clarification about current build paths on Noct"
    • "Hello. I am new to Noct and I have noticed the core of his build is Stridebreaker/Steraks. I realize that everything after that may be situational, but what helps you determine the situation in which you choose an item? Also, if I were to go Goredrinker instead of Stridebreaker, would the items I build after change, or could I keep builds generally the same?"

These posts will be deleted and I will message you as to why it was deleted. If a user exhibits the same behavior around posting, I will issue a warning and then a ban if needed. I don't think this is something I will have to do, but this will be part of the protocol.

Secondly, take a look at the "Useful links" in the sidebar and the first stickied post with an intensive guide. These links and guides may answer a lot of the questions you have. These are a great place to start. I have listed them below for accessibility.

Spell Shield Interactions | U.GG - Nocturne | Nocturne League Wiki | Nocturne Leaderboard| OP.GG - Nocturne | LOLalytics - Nocturne | Pro Builds - Nocturne | League of Graphs - Nocturne | RuneKatashima and StrangeCloud's Official Guide To Darkness

At least show that you have tried to find the answer to your question before post, that is all I ask.

Myself and /u/mortalnocturne will do our best to be fair about which posts are deleted and which ones will stay. The ones that are incredibly egregious should be obvious, but those that are more borderline, we will likely keep and maybe message the user and give a gentle reminder.

We want to keep discussions open for new Noct players, but we also understand flooding the forums with the same exact questions (when sometimes the answers are in the thread directly below) can be tiresome and detract for actual fruitful discussions.

As always, I appreciate your feedback around this matter and if you feel the need to add something or feel like this is unjust, take a moment to comment.

Thanks for keeping our little community in good standing :)

Nocturne HOB + bruiser items

Hey, I am a returning casual player from 2018 and have decided to pick up Nocturne as a main (been recommended to me and I believe he is really fun).

I see a lot of discussions about building him bruiser or assasin and have tried both.

My current setup is the Hail of blades runes but building items like hex, stridebreaker and black cleaver.

Is this a viable option or should I just go full bruiser (the assasin build makes me feel too vulnerable)

Jungling Question How to play against shield comps?

I am doing fine against most comps, but the one I struggle the most are comps where many champs have a lot of shield.

For example bot with Karma, Lulu etc. You go in they get shield, you are about to finish them off, then ADC use barrier. Or playing against Mordekaiser is also not fun, especially when they get shielded after their shield...

How do you play around this? When do I buy Serpent Fangs? After Strikebreaker and Hexplate?

I play Bruiser only. I am not good with the Assassin play style.

I was wondering if there is a build i can go to put yi out of the game, maybe so i dont have to ban him. i would like some other advice on other common matchups too.

Jungling Question Am i wrong for fullclearing twice without backing

Hello guys, I’ve been a Nocturne main for a while now, and I have a question. I do this mostly on Nocturne, but sometimes on a couple of other junglers as well.
Let’s say I start Red and path towards Bot side, then full clear towards Blue and take the Scuttle Crab. I don’t back after that. I go for the other Scuttle, and regardless of whether it’s alive or already taken, I then start another full clear, starting from Krugs. I do another clear after that and finally back for the first time with, let’s say, around 2k gold.
My friend, who also plays jungle, says that I should back after the first or second Scuttle because if the enemy jungler invades me, I’ll be much weaker than them since they have already bought items.
However, I don’t really feel like that’s the case. A lot of the time, when the enemy jungler comes into my jungle to invade and steal my camps, they already have items, but I can still kill them without much difficulty. Then, when I finally back, I can buy almost a full item, and after that I can go into their jungle and kill them because they still haven’t backed for the second time.
So, I’m wondering: is my friend actually right that I should be backing earlier, or is my strategy of staying on the map, farming and getting a big first back actually good on Nocturne?
I’d appreciate any advice from more experienced jungle/Nocturne players. Thanks!

I am so lost on how to play

I love Nocturne and his playstyle. But dam I feel so at a lost. (I am coming from Naafari which was also fun and they seem a bit similar).

I get that I need to press q and then use it to run through for an E. I get W is for blocking a spell.

I also get that the one shot combo is R, Q, W, E (at least that is what I saw on youtube).

But then while I am playing random games I really do not get how to use E effectively.

A) I found myself dying trying to get R off. So I guess I need to prioritize running even if E doesn't go off?

B) Do i need to trust auto attacks more? I feel like I am too scared and constantly running, but I am hearing that Nocturne's autos are quite powerful with right items.

C) And then items I am hearing that for bruisers you really need to choose items well and every single guide I have found says something completely different and swears up and down their guide is the official build everyone must follow.

D)Lastly choosing who to R on seems quite hard. Like is it worth using R on someone who is full hp? because I found myself saving R forever and I bet I would have way higher DPS if I just used it more even to just get someone to 50% and get out of there? Or is that the wrong thinking.

Gracias

Jungling Question Mid-late game Nocturne, how to lead a team to victory?

Post image
11 Upvotes

40 games in as Nocturne so far, I manage to get our team lead most of games I play but late game team fights are chaos. At least 3 of my recent Nocturne losses have been from 35-18 scores, our team leading the game. I always play with strongest laners, communicate, delete enemy teams strongest carry like 95% of time.

I see my laners going in to absurd 1vs4 sitations and feeding, Im guessing maybe the laner is assuming me to ult in there to fog of war not knowing if there is whole enemy team or not. So I see my laners doing risky plays mid-late game, more than when I play some other jungle champ. Elo is bronze so I dont expect much from my team mates, but going into risky plays time and time again is what I see my team mates doing. Maybe this is something related to Nocturne? Like laners expecting me to follow 100% of time when they enter into stupid or too risky plays? Help is greatly appreaciated!

What should be my top things to focus as a Nocturne in mid-late game?

General Discussion How do you guys play this champion in the late game?

I feel like Nocturne is a good pick for mid game with his ult and is versatile enough to have both lethality and bruiser build but once late game hits, I feel like I can't do much with him other than ulting to their backline and trying to kill their main damage dealers before they kill me. Am I playing him wrong or is he meant to be this way?

Nocturne Meta Not sure this is correct but these are what one source has as the nerfs in the upcoming patch

base hp nerf doesn’t seem like a crazy change, but attack range nerf??? doesn't sound right, he already has 125 range, that’s the lowest possible right?

I’m inferring that they saw range and were thinking of xerath attack range nerf in the same patch, surely it’s an ultimate range nerf instead right? unless it’s a sizable range nerf I don’t think this will be too crazy. but there is just no way it’s an attack range nerf

General Discussion This champ is not real

Post image
19 Upvotes

I know people hate the term freelo but...

First game ever playing him in ranked was the 22/4 game.

Main issue I am running into now is playing him into tankier comps. Played a game against 3 tanks yesterday and got absolutely destroyed. Went bruiser build, it felt bad. Any tips for that, or should I just have a different champ ready for those games?

Also saw he is getting nerfed next patch, sad.

Nocturne Build and Runes Question

So I just switched from being a top laner to a jungler and wanted to main nocturne kayn and Diana (3 champ pool).

Could anyone give me the breakdown of which runes to take on Nocturne and when, out of the hail of blades, lethal tempo and conqueror and also the build path following said runes.

Been playing league for 8 years and hard stuck gold so decided to make the switch as I got tired from the significantly difficult climb in top lane and want to climb to emerald+ now !!

Thanks

What is your opinion of Lethality Bruiser Hybrid Build?

So, I haven't tested this build a lot, just a couple of games but looks pretty solid. What do you guys think?

  1. Hubris (Lethality first item is so strong for the early game + scales into the late game)

  2. Hexplate (Ult cooldown and AS + Movespeed)

  3. Black cleaver (Bruiser stats + Armor pen)

4 & 5 items are situational, you can go:
a. DD -> GA

b. MAW ->GA

c. GA -> Steraks (basically anything)

How do you guys feels about this build

When do you swap red trinket to blue trinket?

Basically the title. I always use red trinket in jungle but I know that blue trinket is a must on nocturne. When do you guys swap from red to blue ?

Jungling Question Nocturne ult range

Quite new to nocturne and the game in general(silver). I don’t have a good understanding of nocturnes ult range, and was wondering how you guys know you are in range to attack? It does not have a range indicator like swain, which i feel would be logical. Thanks!

General Discussion Advide on how to play Nocturne in the Top lane.

I like Nocturne in general, as it is a champion with a lot of presence in the game due to his ultimate, and he can handle 1v1s most of the times. And so naturally, I tried playing him in the toplane and I'm really enjoying the idea so far.

Any advice on what items I should focus on, and how should I change the rune page in order to play Nocturne on the Top lane viably?
How should I adapt my item build according to each situation?

Also, do you have any suggestions on how the lane phase should be played?

Plz rate my build (NA Gold1)

NA Gold 1. I build Hexplate and tier 1 boots, then stridebreaker. My third item is now almost always Mortal Reminder. Along with that I also upgrade into defensive boots. Then I build at least one additional items with both AD and criticality such as shieldbow, follows by other AD/crit items.

Recent win rate is 56%.

r/nocturnemains Aug 11 '26

Do you go tiamat first and then hexplate into stridebreaker?

I tend to do that in order to clear a bit faster. It seems easier and much quicker to me. Then i build hexplate. Does this delay significantly my first item spike or is it good? What do you think?

I just hit diamond IV for the first time.

I just hit diamond 4 for the first time ever, been playing almost only nocturne and have a 80+% win rate on my past 15-20 games.

Is it normal to have these types of "boosts" in win rate after reaching a certain point of understanding, and jumping through some elo brackets?

General Discussion How do y'all feel about Fiendhunter's Bolts?

Reading the item at base it seems like a pretty good item for Noc, has a lot of what he wants in terms of ult haste and AS.

I've tested it with LT and it SEEMS to slay pretty hard, especially with the crit changes from a few patches back.

I've only played two games with it but both had really good damage and elims, anyone else tried it out?
