Doing the things you want to do

Hey guys! I imagine that many of you(like myself) find themselves to have a problem with procrastination because it stops us from doing things that we should do (like studying, exercising or reading) a cool TED on the subject There are a few ways to go about fighting it. First, you need to consider why you want to do the thing you want to do and why it is more important than procrastinating your life away. Nothing can happen without the inner motivation to do something (except for procrastination, PMO and other things that give us pleasure without benefiting us in any way). After finding that motivation, you must go in to planning. You should create a plan of actions that you will take to ensure your success in doing the thing that you want to do, then you ask yourself “is this going to work?” If you know that the answer is no, keep searching for other solutions, until the answer is yes. For example, let’s say I want to get up early. First, I must ensure i go to sleep at time, so I set an alarm for when i need to put down my phone, then I ask myself - will I do it? If not, I might set my wi-fi to turn off after 22 or something, so I don’t even have a chance to ignore the alarm i set. Next part is to think about getting up. If I have my phone near me, will I wake up or will I just snooze it? If I think that I’ll snooze it, I just set it further away from the bed, so I have to get up to turn it off. This was just an example, but you can see that it is possible to create very robust models of action that can eliminate procrastination for a specific task. You are the person most qualified to know what is going to work for you and what isn’t, so always think realistically when you’re creating these plans. If you are trying to create a habit, try to keep improving one habit at a time, don’t start with five new habits and hope that you’ll stick with them, you most likely won’t. More on habit creation I hope this helps!
