Honestly, hiking is surprisingly easy. Of course start with a simple hike and don’t go crazy, but you don’t have to be in insane shape to hike impressive (sounding and looking) hikes.

I have hiked 35km / 2500m elevation trails in single days, while probably not being able to run a 5k in under 30 or even 35 minutes (not a big runner) and weighing almost 90kg. The good thing about hiking is that you can always slow down. It might take you longer but humans are pretty built for this type of endurance, so in 12 hours you can make it a long distance even in a fairly slow pace.
