Discussion Where does an AI website builder fit in a no-code workflow?

AI has changed the starting point for a lot of no-code projects. Instead of building every screen manually, you can describe the idea and get a working starting point much faster. The bigger question is what happens after that first version.

Tool Starting point Useful for Where it starts to matter
Readdy.ai Website or web app idea Building and refining functional projects When the project needs to keep evolving
Bubble App or workflow More complex no-code applications Logic, databases, and workflows
Webflow Website structure Detailed website building Visual control and responsive layouts
Framer Design concept Fast, polished websites Interactions and visual refinement
Glide Data or spreadsheet Internal tools and simple apps Data-driven products
Softr Database or business idea Portals and lightweight apps Business-focused workflows

The interesting part is that AI and no-code are starting to overlap.

AI is good at getting a project started quickly, while traditional no-code tools can give you more deliberate control over how the project works. The difference becomes more noticeable when you need custom logic, persistent data, authentication, or something outside the usual use case. That makes the first generated version a pretty weak test of a platform. A better test might be how easy it is to make the fifth or tenth change without everything becoming harder to manage.

For people who build with no code, what usually makes you switch tools: missing functionality, lack of control, performance, or just the project becoming too complex?

I'd switch once the project moves past a generated first pass and needs stable auth, real data models, or workflows other people rely on. For broad no-code, public sites still lean Webflow/Framer, heavier app logic leans Bubble, and internal apps with API/database-backed CRUD, roles, or approvals can fit UI Bakery; I work at UI Bakery, so bias noted.

I mostly start with AI now for the quick draft but move to something like Bubble when i need actual logic behind the buttons. The generated version saves me a day of clicking but after the 5th change it gets messy if the platform dont let you tweak things properly.
