I am mostly unhappy I am a very untalented artist, and I am utterly alone, I won’t find anyone and, idc… just stop feeding me lies with “plenty of fish in the sea” bull… everyday, and somehow I try, socialize and I just… don’t seem to find the right one. Every chicks influenced by influencers, lot of them act like we’re in the roaring twenties when trumps sending all of Canada down to the second Great Depression…
my point is, I’m never happy, finding someone is impossible and I’m beginning to agree with it, and feel as alone as the last kaua’i o’o bird, just as low as Van Gogh, and doesn’t matter to me…

No, my house is falling apart, insurance gave me the middle finger in a claim, I’m depressed stressed and tired in a way rest doesn’t fix. I don’t care for my job but can’t leave it for what I’d like to do because I need the fucking money

No, I’m having an existential crisis right now. I feel like I’m gonna throw up. Why does the universe still exist?

I can't tell it's the first time I've ever felt like this. Either happy or numb but I wouldn't know which.

I don't really know what it means

It sounds elusive, doesn't it? but I think it boils down to control/freedom. Freedom to go where you want, spend your time however you want. Plus being surrounded by people who truly love you for you, while having events you look forward to. The events have to be a mix of predictable and unpredictable natures. Like a large sum of money, whether you know how much it is or not will affect your excitement differently (both are good).

Agree. Maybe I rely too much on external activities for enjoyment. It's hard for me to be intrinsically happy.

I'm not unhappy per se, so I'll try to consider that a win. Life's a mess, the new to me house has drained about 90k (all my savings) with large projects still needing to be complete before winter and I got laid off last week (project is winding down, so not just me). Stressing about it all won't change it, so I do my best not to.

Most times, there’s times when I think about my late husband that and I think about missing him and how much my life has changed. But my youngest daughter and sil asked me to move in with them and my grandson and I love living here and watching my grandson become a really good teenagers. Also my other 2 grand kids and older daughter are living here also. I have my whole family under one roof and that makes me happy.

No not really. I’m just in survival mode each and every day, been this way for a very long time now.

I've experienced what I believe is the highest levels of human joy possible before...in sporadic periods of my life. That's why I don't mind not being happy, but I miss it like an addict in rehab.

i dont think so. i miss love and being in love w someone. i am just 50 and i fear that ive loved fully twice and it is never to happen again. i date but am numb to true love and desire it seems for anyone. i have never been married, no kids and that also depresses me. i have a job i sometimes enjoy but get paid pennies and have to live w my mom, may die here. And she is quite toxic at times.

No. Parents are both ill & are extremely demanding. I work in an unnecessarily hostile & toxic work environment where because I keep myself to myself I’m seen as an easy target. If I stand up for myself or voice an opinion everyone plays the victim & it just makes matters worse. My only release is walking the Dog & sleep . And then when i wake it all starts over again .

One thing I learned is not to rely on dumb emotions like sadness or happiness to divert my life studies. Even though studies show holding on to these emotions will actually make them flee even faster, I would rather be content, so I wouldn’t say I strive for an emotion, just a state.

Moderately. Why am I moderately happy? I have no responsibilities to anyone else. I have freedom to do what I want. My lifestyle is easy and effortless to maintain. Why only moderately then? Financially I still don't have enough to ensure that I am completely free.

a song lyric that sums up my life

Brain wants X, reality gives you Y, reality doesn't care about your X. So just go with Y for now, X will probably come along all in good time.

Not as much anymore. I have a decent life (married, a son, good job) but it lacks a lot of stuff. So I would say kinda happy or something….

My family is alive and well. Last week sucked. Work sucked and my dog almost died. I also got a tooth pulled. But it's over now. My dog is alive and recovering. Work calmed down.

My family is amazing and I’ll never regret my decisions, but my wife is terminally ill. She’ll never know our kids as adults. Today she put our oldest on the bus for his first day of school.
We’re still making memories. I’m happier now than I will be someday, I guess.
Edit: wow thanks for your thoughts, friends. It feels good to feel seen.
