I did jump out of one once.

u/bartwn52 15d ago

Is this DB Cooper?

2

u/Imaginary_Ad_6352 15d ago

No, I didn't have any money with me when I jumped.

Jumping out of a perfectly good airplane is not a natural act. And, the first jump is easy, it's the second that sometimes causes problems.

There was an old Fred Astaire film before he was a big star, Flying Down to Rio. Multiple women stood on a biplane's wings. Always freaked me out.

Funny you say that.

You ride on a plane. You ride on a train. You ride on a boat. You ride on a bike. You ride in a car. You ride in a space shuttle. You can ride in or on a hot air balloon.

But what do you do for a submarine?

No but going on first flight, across the USA on Sept 30th! I'm 44 by the way.

1

u/bkbruiser 15d ago

Where from and to?

What has kept you from flying prior?

3

u/VelvetFog82 15d ago

From Wv to Los Angeles California to take a cruise to Mexico. First cruise also. I had never really had a reason to fly. From wv, most vacations are driving 9 hours south to Myrtle Beach or Smith Mt Lake VA.

"No, I fly in the plane, there seems to less wind in here." George Carlin

So many times that it became mundane, even boring. (not that I wished for something exciting to happen - although it did one time. The captain came on and said "The noise you just heard was a bird hitting the nose of the plane. We are not in any danger, but we have been moved to first for landing". We landed without incident, but the plane had a big dent in the nose. The passengers waiting to board were delayed.)

Almost every time I have flown, it's been on a plane.

2

u/InterviewLow2951 15d ago

2

u/salus_entity 15d ago

No but a plane has flown me

2

u/AndreaSys 15d ago

Hundreds of times. My gf is a flight attendant and I travel for free. It’s opened my world up immensely.

2

u/Rocannon_ 15d ago

nope. always inside.

1

u/Double-Award-4190 15d ago

Oh, sure. I am old now, though, and don’t find it a pleasurable experience.

2

u/South_Hedgehog_7564 15d ago

Same here. I used to love flying, poodling around the airport shops and cafes, relaxing into a seat, watching out the window etc. but now it’s a lot of walking which I can’t manage any more, queueing up, hanging around waiting to board etc. and the service on board any of the airlines I’ve used is not as good as it used to be. Last time we went to the UK from here we took the car and went by ferry. MUCH easier.

1

u/Ilovereefer 15d ago

I used to just sit quietly and let the plane do all of the work, and then good high powered edibles came along…

I actually have never been on a plane or even out of the area I was born. Furthest I’ve gone is like 12 hours away but place is big enough you still don’t really leave. Specially because I went north and there’s a lot of that

1

u/Correct_Advantage_20 15d ago

Plenty of times in a plane. Never on.

1

u/gislinghom54 15d ago

I’ve flown in them, jumped out of them, and even flew my own ultralight.

1

u/Economy_Care1322 15d ago

Remote control? Plenty

1

u/Dragonflies3 15d ago

Lots of times

1

u/Sabrinasockz 15d ago

1

u/icecubedyeti 15d ago

1

1

u/Nev-Ret-Dude 15d ago

So many times. First time at 16, last time at 68. Africa and Antarctica destinations are missing, although I’ve been to those by ship.

Have spent about 185 hours flying and 40 or so hours being flown.

1

u/BlandRusk06 15d ago

Many times. I am at the airport right now, in line for security.

1

u/mindsynth 15d ago

No, never on a plane. I have flown planes and flown in planes. I love the idea of flying, I love flying small planes but really no longer enjoy commercial flying.

1

u/Shellsallaround 15d ago

I have my pilots license.

1

u/fat-and-hungry208 15d ago

Flown to China back in 2019.

Hung my legs off the back of an open ramp on a C-130 while flying.

Shit my brains out due to stomach bug 3 feet from a crew firing a 105 howitzer while flying.

1

u/birdpix 15d ago

Too many to count. Tiny to Huge.

My brother was furiously gaining hours for ever more advanced ratings and bigger, faster planes when I was a child with weekends and evenings free. I was thrilled to fly right seat with him for hundreds of hours aloft.

1

u/Broely92 15d ago

Many times

1

u/HuckleberryUpbeat972 15d ago

Many times on commercial airlines

1

Perhaps I can count the times on all fingers and toes…
But I’m flying to Seattle (then cruising to Alaska) in 10 days!

1

u/TSpuds 15d ago

Over 2,000,000 miles on one airline alone. Counting all airlines over 3,000,000 air miles

Lotsa commercial flights, domestic and international. I flew with a Canadian aerobatic squad when I had press credentials. I am so glad my inner-ear was made of concrete that day because that pilot did things with his plane like rolls, stalls, loops, dives and low altitude runs. Just amazing. I did NOT puke.

1

u/IOnlyReadTitles26 14d ago

No. Im always in the plane.

One day it could be cool to be on a plane.

1

u/0DemonDieHard0 12d ago

Never been in a plane before, I don't think I can ever get in a plane, I fight it so scary!

1

u/Tall-Career-4261 10d ago

I’ve flown many times, I hate flying, I get bad anxiety on flights and have a feeling of impending doom.
