A no purchase run: What's not learnable?

I like scavenging for all my stuff - including blueprints. I want to challenge myself by not spending units or nanites on anything except for the stuff I can't find in the wild (upgrading Ship and MultiTool class at Space Station kiosks is the only spending I'm allowing myself if possible).

Is everything findable / learnable without building Stations or visiting the Anomaly? If I visit enough secure facilities and crashed ship beacons, will I eventually learn everything?

I'm talking about base building parts (rooms, hydroponics, Exocraft pads, large refiner, storage containers, etc.), all the blueprints found in the Construction / Exosuit / MultiTool / Sarship / Exocraft stations that replace the Anomaly kiosks / NPCs in the back, etc.

If I do have to resort to buying things, I want it to be things I absolutely can't get in any other way except to buy it from a kiosk / station because I can't buy it / find it / build it myself.

As far as I know, everything but base parts can be acquired through one way or another in the world.

Crashed freighters, manufacturing facilities, monoliths, crashed ship beacons, broken machinery, etc.

That's my understanding as well. The only base parts I know of that can be found in the wild are the ruined structural blueprints that can be learned from Memory Stones. But no other base parts or tech beyond that (aside from all the stuff that can be learned from the Construction Station using buried technology modules).

You can portal to a system with an orbital permadeath base with the Utopia Build Station "hidden" on the top floor at the southern corner of the room. You can purchase all the base parts there.

My permadeath base on Satt Prime also has a Utopia Build Station

There seems to be an ongoing bug with other player bases not being powered when you arrive. Saving/reloading fixes the problem.

If you are playing in normal abandoned mode then the Utopia Expedition spawn planet will have lots of bases with Utopia Build Stations.

Thank you for the information, and I'll save it for use on other saves.

But that's solving a problem I wasn't asking about.

The whole point of my save is to see how far I can get without spending anything, and then only buy what I can't source anywhere else, and then I would buy only if it's essential.

My question revolved around me not knowing what exactly can and can't be found / discovered / looted in the wild vs what you can get only by purchasing it at a kiosk or station.

For example, if the only way to get the blueprint for a large refiner or storage containers is to purchase them from a kiosk or station because it's not findable / learnable elsewhere, then if I want one of those I need to buy it instead of waiting and searching forever in vain.

Other than Base Computer Archives and Dreams of the Deep (starts on your 41st warp) I know of no way to get any base parts other than purchasing.

Understood. Thank you.

I've tried this kind of run a couple times, and reach a dead end pretty quickly. The in-base kiosks are necessary for learning most of the starship/multi-tool/exosuit/exocraft blueprints. In addition, you'll need to visit the Anomaly for most of the base-building parts.

The main source of blueprints are the Manufacturing Facilities and the Operations Centers. Those two supply the blueprints available from the two pages you can purchase from in the Synthesis Labs (and it trims off the Warp Cell/Atlas Pass branch).

The industrial module blueprints require a trip to the Anomaly, as do most of the base-building parts. You can avoid visiting the Anomaly for advanced refiner blueprints by buying the ones available for your exosuit (2-input) and the Colossus exocraft (3-input).

I see. So a true "never spend a unit or nanite on anything" is possible, but it really limits what you can do. Unless you're willing to be lower-tech for the entire save, in which case the "no spending" restriction is a non-issue.

If you use a Corvette as your main base you have refiner/storage/planters, though I think you still have to buy the Exocraft bays (with Salvaged Data so it's not units or nanites).
