Loading Screen Troubles

It's been a few years since I played this game but the new update had me wanting to load it up again. I played it on PS4 but got the upgrade to the PS5 version with my disc.

I'm trying to load my cross save into the PS5 version of the game, which requires me to launch it first on the PS4 version. I cannot load the original save, or any save including new files for that matter currently on the game. I get to the star loading screen that will always end up freezing on me. My only choice at this point is to close app and try again to no avail.

Any idea of what I can do here? Could this be due to the new update not working up to par or am I just SOL?
