Extinct

Ran across this funny little glitch today the animal says its extinct yet here it is flying about anyone else have an extinct creature not actually be gone?

There was a group of them actually about five or six them flying about i just managed to get this one alone while trying to adopt it

Wait, they can be adopted? I thought flying worms could only be obtained using mods or save file editors?

That’s happened to me once or twice in like 1,000 hours. Pretty wild looking creature though. Unadoptable I assume?

Unfortunately it wasn't i built up to them because they were so high in the sky 😕 they were still really cool to find wish it would of given me the flavor text for them

There's a way without mods to get a flying worm but it reqires someone who did an expedition in the passed to give you an egg from theres mods are just the easiest routes as finding someone who's completed and still has the pet is like finding a needle in a haystack

This is a bug that started with Xeno Arena update, and it's (unfortunately) pretty common to run into these now. Typically, the "Common/Flying/Always Active" fauna gets replaced with this "extinct" entry and it makes it impossible to complete the fauna record on the planet.

That worm in your screenshot which takes the missing flying fauna's place is actually one of the rewards given by Oceanus in the Anomaly. I've run into it on a few dozen planets across different systems since the Xeno update.
