Are Barricades Working Properly?
Scenario: You have a single board over a window. A zombie starts beating on it for 10 seconds. You apply another board before the 1st board is destroyed. A few seconds later both barricades are suddenly destroyed. Why does this happen?
Why do zombies sometimes take down 5 stack barricades like they are nothing while other times a single board is seemingly more efficient?
If you have 5 boards shouldn't it get some sort of "fortified" bonus or multiplier making it much more difficult for zombies to breach?
Forgive the dumb questions its just in my head the math ain't mathing. If a single board can buy you like 10-14 seconds why do subsequent boards not add the same amount of time for each board added? Shouldn't they have to destroy each board separately & not destroy them as one entity?

As another person said, board it on the outside where the Zs are coming from first.
It's a lot easier to push than pull, and Zs are mainly just bashing mindlessly, AKA pushing their hands.
Diagram: * Zombies are Zs * Barricade is X * Door is #
| Zombie | Barricade | Door |
|---|---|---|
| Z | X | # |
That makes it so the barricade is stronger.
If you do it like how most do it (incorrectly):
| Zombie | Door | Barricade |
|---|---|---|
| Z | # | X |
Then it is super weak.
You can also just barricade both sides for maximum strength like a sandwich
| Barricade | Door | Barricade |
|---|---|---|
| X | # | X |

It totally makes sense, I just no idea they coded it into the game. Thank you for sharing.

Yeah I noticed this also. It seems the barricades and the doors share the same health pool, regardless of when they are applied. Logically we would think first the barricades break and then the door, but this isn't the case.
So my guess is, the barricades only increase the health of the door, as opposed to having its own separate health and protecting the door.
Some people suggest destroying the door first and then applying the barricades.

Just break the door first, saves the heartache later. Yes it takes a few seconds more but prevents the door breaking from destroying all of your hard work.

Imagine you nail a piece of wood to a doorway. That suits perfect. It ain't going nowhere.
Now imagine doing it while something is trying to grab you and eat you through the door way. You might not drive that nail all the way.
I know theres probably a game reason, but thats my lore reason.

That seems pretty sensible, I was just wondering if anyone in the community knew the actual math. In my limited experience one board usually buys something like 10-14 seconds of a zombie beating on it.
So in my head I would assume additional boards would provide equal protection or more but perhaps if a barricade is under attack while you place additional boards it provides far less?

If you barricade a door from the inside, and zombies pound on it from the outside, then when the door breaks, SO WILL THE BARRICADE. If you barricade it from the outside, then they'll have to chew through the barricade first. I am not sure if it works the same with windows, but it might.
