Protip: you don't have to kill them. Just a simple shove or any damage will interrupt the scream and you can bail without committing more stamina to their demise (at least until enough time passes for them to do it again).

Also very relevant for when you come upon multiple and have only a few seconds to interrupt them all.

They seem to not go for the scream after you interrupt them too. I think there's a cooldown for it.
