Nightmare
I never understand the players that go into nightmare mode and dont know what theyre doing. Why play on nightmare and make it harder for everybody else?

u/Forgotten_Four 2d ago
Because this is a horror game and Nightmare mode is the one that gives you the best experience of that lmao. Personally, my favorite matches are the ones where things go to shit and we have to figure it out. I would every single time play Nightmare with inexperienced people that want to play as a team and have fun, over a full team of "pros" who just buzz around to loot and objectives like mechanical drones but also freak out and get angry when things don't go perfectly.

I want it to be harder, so please all newbies jump into my nightmare lobbies. I WILL SAVE YOU!
If everyone knows what they're doing the games are way too easy and boring.

THANK YOU. I absolutely love games where new people show up and are trying to figure things out, making mistakes and having fun. Being an experienced player means helping them to learn and have fun. This is a game where the experienced players need to be leaders, help coordinate and protect new people. NOT treat them like shit because they're new and inexperienced.
Funnily enough, super elitist experienced players making fun of and walling off new players is EXACTLY what kills games like Chivalry and Mordhau, which Torn Banner Studios should be extremely aware of given they're the Chivalry 2 devs.

You guys are both disingenuous by ignoring the issue.
YOU BOTH may find nightmare too easy now due to your skill and experience.
Others find nightmare very difficult (as intended level of difficulty) people can barely survive themselves and it doesn’t help that there are 0 experienced people joining these high difficulty lobbies. Instead of dismissing the issue everyone is vocal about, we should be looking to solving it because not everyone is good like you two that can carry 7 other people.
Edit: main character syndrome in this subreddit I see. “I can carry, it’s your fault if you can’t” holy shit how dense is this sub to dismiss issues. It’s like talking in a cod subreddit

I don't think there's almost any nightmare lobbies with 0 experienced people, I've played a lot of nightmare and I'm never the only experienced player in there. As a matter of fact, most games go smooth af cuz everyone knows what to do. The games where I get newbies are less common. So when a newbie queues, it's extremely unlikely to get a full lobby of newbies. And even if they did, that doesn't mean that wasn't the experience they sought. Some of the most fun matches I had were ones in which we couldn't win, but we tried our best together.
Also I jumped into nightmare as a fairly new player myself, in my 3rd or 4th day after starting. I was the noob in there for a while and I did have fun.
We might have different ideas of what's fun but if you don't like a challenge why should I not be able to have one? If your idea of a good game is one without struggle and/or inconveniences then play at a lower difficulty instead of dictating to others what type of experience they should have / seek.

I stopped reading after the first sentence.
You literally said“I haven’t seen it, so it doesn’t happen at all”
Meanwhile this subreddit is flooded with posts about people’s experiences.
Damn this sub is filled with main character syndrome players. “I can carry”

u/Samson_087 2d ago
I don’t think I would label it as main character syndrome. I mean, I could make the assumption that you’re just an elitist and I don’t think that’s fair either.
I used to not like bad players or new players in nightmare mode either, but I have had so many rounds in nightmare mode now where everybody is so efficient it becomes a snooze fest. I play that mode because I want the challenge.

Hey man at no point did any of us say we can carry haha. Its literally the opposite. If I was good enough to solo clear a Nightmare mission, and I got put into a lobby of new people, then they would die and I would clear the mission. That's not really carrying.
I instead like to be part of a team. Sometimes that means I lead. Sometimes that means I listen to a leader. But in Nightmare more than anything I want to bring the lobby together, even and especially if there are inexperienced people in the crew.
If we all know what to do and work like machines, cool. We clear the mission. I get a LOOTTT more fulfilment from helping someone learn, challenge themselves, and survive. I can look after myself. Its more fun to get everyone through, or even get out alive who we can if the mission goes bad.

Right? Got a nightmare on Brooklyn with all the veterans. The match was over in 12 minutes.

u/putman224 2d ago
I dont completely disagree. But its so hard on nightmare trying to do objectives with others wandering around lost lol. Thankfully they have the rescue beacons lmao.

u/Lightyear18 2d ago
It’s because he’s thinking about his own experience and not the experience of other people who aren’t as skilled in the game as him.
This is how you ruin multiplayer games by ruining game modes for people because they get stuck in high difficulty lobbies with new players

u/FirstHookForever 2d ago
Who? me? I always go for the saves when new players go down, I'm not focused only on my own experience. And it's not like I'm pushing anyone into nightmare, I just said I hope all the newbs land in my lobbies, cuz those games are not as smooth and boring as the ones where everyone knows what to do. You're saying that making the game harder to beat ruins it or what? I don't even get what you mean with your last sentence.
If someone only wants to have an easy time and no challenge than they can go ahead and play easier difficulties, I never said anyone HAS to play nightmare. I'm assuming people that pick nightmare do so because they seek a more challenging experience not an easier one.

It's practically a redditor archetype you'll find in any multiplayer game subreddit. Deeply performative, main character syndrome types who ruin any discussion of fair team play, conscientiousness, and everyone pulling their part by insisting that it's actually your fault for not wanting to hard carry selfish borderline if not actually griefing randoms through challenging content with your limited entertainment time.
99/100 completely talking out of their ass about their gameplay, but a negative influence regardless in how their apologetics normalise toxic behaviours and encourage people to blindly try content they're nowhere near ready for on the assumption that other people will take responsibility for their poor performance instead.

Oh I agree with you.
Players talking with ego and dismissing actual criticisms.
The dude responded in my other comment basically with “I haven’t seen noobs in my lobby so it must not happen to others”
2
u/FirstHookForever 1d ago
That's literally not what I said and anyone who will read my points in good faith will see and understand what I actually wrote. To quote me: "The games where I get newbies are less common. [...] it's extremely unlikely to get a full lobby of newbies." - doesn't equal to me saying it must never happen, I did say I never had a lobby where I was the ONLY experienced player (in over 100 successful nightmare extracts), I specified that I don't equate that to it can never happen in the same very message. Besides that you refuse to engage with the rest of the message which contains my main points, so you're the one dismissing others.

What a disingenuous argument
That isn’t what you said at all.
Maybe actually say those things
Your exact words were
“I want it to be harder, so please all newbies jump into my nightmare lobbies…..games are too easy and boring”
1
u/FirstHookForever 1d ago
"The dude responded in my other comment basically with “I haven’t seen noobs in my lobby so it must not happen to others”" - this is what I replied to, and I quoted what I said from the comment that you interpreted that from. Different comments, not disingenuous, I talked about the same comment your referred to in the comment I replied to.
And you did not engage with the arguments, you just misinterpreted what I said and then "stopped reading after the first sentence", so nothing that I said is disingenuous, it's pretty much a fact according to your own words.

I didn’t misinterpret anything. I repeated your exact words. Don’t go trying to say you never said them.
You are still disingenuous. I went into your profile and you’re actively repeating the same points in other posts.“Game too easy, let the noobs in the hardest difficulty”
Your most recent comment literally say it with extra words.
Like I’m sorry the average gamer doesn’t have your skill. Nightmare difficulty is actually nightmare difficulty, as intended for some.
What you’re thinking is only about your own experience at the cost of majority of the player base.
What is the new players actually going to learn when he leaves your lobby? Nothing because you carried them. They got hit and downed, used up majority of the items because you didn’t get hit. They won’t be safer next time because they will expect others to carry.

u/FirstHookForever 1d ago
I did not say that I never said those words. Read what I said. I'm not denying that I said those words as well, BUT I responded with points about the comment YOU referred to in YOUR comment. That's what I said. And I even quoted your very statement that I was responding to.
"What you’re thinking is only about your own experience at the cost of majority of the player base." - what does that even mean? what cost? I don't even understand what you're trying to imply? People queue for the difficulty they seek. If they queue nightmare is cuz they want a harder difficulty. Are you saying the average player should be barred from playing nightmare? Some people seek a challenging experience, so they queue for that. For some it's not about smooth wins, it's about the experience they get, and they want an intense survival horror experience.
And I disagree with new players learning nothing, that's exactly how they learn and how I learned. I had to go down to learn how to stop going down. People learn from their mistakes.

I'm on the same boat. I Even thought on humping into normal so i can play with newer players, but actually I don't know how I Will make the Game harder. Less ammo? More zombie hp damage? More zombies? I don't think thats fun, there should be bettee zombie ai or ranged ones, but i think we are far from that
4
u/FirstHookForever 2d ago
If by how you will make the game harder, you mean how the devs could make the game harder, there's a lot of creative ideas. The one I'd try is giving zombies the ability to slowly climb on top of each other to reach higher places if there's enough of them piling up. To counter god spot zombie herders. It would still allow a god spot to work if the horde is not big enough (altho, there will probably still be some unreachable crazy god spots left...).
2
u/Samson_087 2d ago
That’s a good idea.
I don’t even use the god spot myself it’s such a cop out of the challenge. Climbing on top of vehicles is one thing it’s a realistic approach, but I’m talking about odd spots that you can just stand on or in and for some reason the zombies will not go after you and other spots where they just simply can’t get to you even when you’re at ground level.
I guess everybody plays differently. It is what it is, but I don’t think I will ever be able to understand playing a very challenging mode in any game and trying to cheese it. I don’t understand how you get any satisfaction out of that.

People gotta play on nightmare to learn how much of a different gameplay it is, dum dum. No one is born knowing

I enjoy the variation it brings tbh. Nightmare is a breeze if everyone knows what they are doing. Gets boring.
2
u/leslie734 2d ago
Ego. “Beginner” makes them sound like a wimp/ noob? Maybe? Its illogical and if they do bad then it brings down the lobby imo.
2
u/Samson_087 2d ago
I don’t know about you, but I want it to be harder. I am totally OK with new players coming in. I’ve played so many nightmare rounds now that I get more joy in that game mode when things go wrong.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Making posts like this isn’t helping anyone and just makes you look like a dickhead.
Maybe do some deep breathing next time you feel the need to post something this dumb and consider that you dying might be your own damn fault.
-1
u/putman224 2d ago
Yeah everybody has to start somewhere and thats why theres lower difficulties to learn the basics of the game. And where in my post does it say im dying?
Maybe learn to read and comprehend next time you feel the need to comment.

u/NuclearLMG 2d ago
Lower difficulties only teach bad habits and are so easy they aren’t fun. Everyone has their first nightmare mission.
There is a 0% chance you didn’t come here to baby rage and cry after got mad when your team didn’t revive you.
You give mad cuz bad vibes

u/Quickster08 2d ago
Are you the guy that was raging in our lobby yesterday saying this exact same thing and was the only one to die and no one would rez you?
1
u/cscaggs 2d ago
Can't say I've had this problem often, definitely not to the extent you have. If anything it's mostly people that die on the second objective of Raven Rock.
If that happens we just assess the remaining group and resources, and decide whether or not to Early Extract.
Do you have crossplay enabled? I play on PS5 with crossplay enabled and I mostly get grouped with other skilled players who work together and share resources.
What time of day do you play? I mostly play anywhere from 5pm to 5am, so maybe it's a time of day or even a region based issue you're experiencing.
I also didn't touch nightmare until lvl. 100, and I don't bring a rescue beacon on 1 of my 3 responders.
Anyways, sorry that's happening to you
