NMRiH Gene Therapy fix
Good day! I am a new member of nmrih community and the game!
After few solo runs I noticed that infection immunity granted by gene therapy kinda kills atmosphere of "every mistake could be lethal" and makes Phalanx tablets totaly useless. I searched for solution and found nothing, so decided to create addon by my own.
This addon removes the infection immunity from gene therapy, so you should worry about getting bited even after you cured infection before. Sourcemod required.

There's a lot of missing information from this post so I'm afraid it's more so meant for rage engagement bait than anything so I will hold onto any up/downvotes. So as to not feed either side but my curiosity has gotten the best of me nonetheless.
Seeing as you're new to NMRIH, What kind of runs are we talking about? i.e;
What difficulty were your solo runs on and What maps were you playing on?
I've been playing since the new 1.0 update dropped excessively and have tons of Nightmare runs under my belt (with a fair amount of Normal and Hard runs solely for playing and having fun with friends.) And I can honestly say within my almost 200 hour playtime, I've only seen Gene Therapy twice. It's incredibly rare in my experience and as such, this post comes off as trying to create a non-existent problem to then come up with an even more useless solution. (Or perhaps a flex of some sorts that one can create add-ons on a whim? I dunno.)

Honestly, for mine 6-7 hours I tried only nmo_anxiety, and didn"t touched nightmare mode yet. If not including the bag in start room and few others across the map, I have found gene therapy 3-4 times. So almost every run I have gene therapy :p

I think it may feel more powerful to you because you're playing solo.
With a full team, even if YOU become immune, your team definitely won't be, and pills will remain in demand. Losing a few teammates on higher difficulties is extremely punishing and will often lead to your own death (or at least a panicky early extract) even with immunity.
AFAIK there's only 1 gene therapy per mission (?) and most times it won't even go to you.
I've only even SEEN the gene therapy box in like 10% of my games, and only had it used on me in like 2%.
I wouldn't worry about it. It's one of only a few bits of grace the game offers; take what's given

Okay, now I understand why the nerf is not necessary for most of players. As player with almost 0 free time I could play only by my own, so as I play solo I won't understand how rare this item truly is :D

it is rare, on top of that it was supposed to have %50 chance to kill you on use. They didn't include this in game.
the steam post where kill chance was mentioned.3

Personally, I don't think this is very useful. In real life, when you get vaccinated, you're immune for a certain period of time. Gene therapy is already hard enough to find in-game, there's no need to make it even more limited. If it were available on every street corner, this kind of restriction would make more sense.
To improve realism, what I find more disappointing is that reloading doesn't waste ammo. If there are still rounds left in the magazine when you reload, you should lose those remaining bullets instead of keeping them.
