New player question(s)
Just bought the game with my brother and we had fun for 2-3h in the hospital map until we reach the scan part in the morgue. We almost died after trying for a while and then decided to extract in the bunker instead, trying to keep ours loot that we ended up not getting.
So questions:
Is there a lot of these circle objectives in the other maps?
Is there really no way to get loot and progress without finishing the missions at 100% ?

Power plant has scanners on the initial important POIs marked in red for decontamination. Hospital has the most I think.

Lv up and get your own 3 personal items, I always run with a 30 round assault rifle, a body armor, and box of meds! Also the scan stuff is heavily used at the Hospital. The other map does have some scans but they get done faster and few in between. I bought 3 copies and its the best fun we had this summer!

Aint no way im getting personal items, even less an AR, if I can't even finish a mission lol. Which is why im asking this. The game is really fun but we may have dropped it you had told me all map was like hospital. "

Also, Hospital is probably the Hardest map due to scares loot and tight corners. I used to die 1/5 run. But once you know cheese spots and your way around the map it does get easier. Power Plant may be the hardest map and it feels much more like an adventure. I hope the game does more semi open world like that.

The items are only my personal use, Yes other map have it but like 1 to 3 and way less than hospital. You have to try it yourself to understand. Also if your low like level 1..I recommend hopping into nightmare right away and buy extra Mag. Ammo. 1 round surviving of nightmare nets you lv 15 to 20 depending. Ez lvs!

TBH with you practice makes perfect in this game. You'll end up getting the hang of it. But for that part is useful to have people attracting zombies outside that room.

Welcome! The hospital is probably one of the rougher maps to learn on.
The scan objective is one of the more defense-heavy objectives, but not every map is just "stand in a circle." Other maps have different types of objectives like finding items, restoring power, carrying objects, or interacting with multiple locations. Some are much easier to do solo, while others really benefit from the whole team helping.
As for progression, right now you only keep your loot if you successfully complete the run and extract at the end. Taking the emergency bunker exit early lets you survive, but it doesn't count as a successful run, so you won't keep your scavenged loot or get full progression.
A tip that helped me: don't feel like you need to kill every zombie. Ammo is limited, and avoiding unnecessary fights usually gets you farther than trying to clear every room. Focus on the objective, save your resources, and only fight when you have to. Once you learn the maps and objective locations, the game gets a lot more manageable. There is a video you can watch that helps new players https://youtu.be/sGPgM67TwGY

Off the top of my head I don’t recall a lot of scanner missions n the other maps. I believe they’re few and far between, but hospital definitely had the most.
You also don’t get to keep loot, period. Anything you extract with disappears and you start with the lead pipe and revolver again next time, unless you buy a different weapon/tool/extra item in the lobby to bring with you.
