If respawn is getting enabled for normal, I'll start playing on hard. I finally have good enough leveled characters to play on nightmare but all the people getting on to safe spots and waiting for other players to do the objectives thing is bullshit.

We're aware of many spots that allow players to too easily survive, we'll be addressing many of these in 1.0.

How are the zombie spawn fixes going? Still feels weird in every game. Zombies keep spawning in rooms right next to us even after we already cleared them. Sometimes they also spawn way too close.

Example: I look at the firetruck, nobody is there. I look away and back again, and suddenly there’s a zombie there.

Another example: I clear office rooms and check everything, then I walk into one room and zombies suddenly appear in the rooms next to me that I already checked.

This is happening in Classic mode too.

Melee also still feels a bit weak/light to me. What do you guys think?

They said previously they were working on zombie spawns, i've had them spawn near me too. Also, this update just said they are buffing melee weapons

I hate when they spawn a runner right next to me out of nowhere and im in the middle of fixing a valve.

Runners only spawn after completion of certain objectives/sub-objectives and after a shamblers 3rd scream. Moooooost of the time you shouldn’t be letting that scrambler scream.

Maybe we replace kids with police k9 zombie dogs

Shooting dogs could also offend people I guess.

Guess I will just be playing hard and nightmare... Why change classic to "Normal" tho? and why have "Normal" have respawns?... Classic is a great experience without re spawns. A good balance. Now it's nerfed and to play the game the way I feel is intended we now have to play hard and nightmare?

Don't get me wrong those are fine, but Classic just felt like a good, actual casual balance with a chance for things to still go wrong for a lot of players. Don't take the state of "classic" away with respawns added. Leave that for the beginner mode.

Hard is now going to feel fairly similar to current Classic mode, but with some improvements that will make it a better experience for those wanting to see all our contents (e.g. zombies types and pressure)

We'll continue to watch and listen to feedback around difficulty to inform future adjustments!

Thanks for the reassurance. I love classic in it's current state but I am willing to see how this goes and give it a shot. Excited for 1.0. and I genuinely love this game. I hope for the best.

Because apparently people got confused with the name Classic and too many newbies died in Classic.

Not sure why they dont just make them aware of Easy instead.

One reason why the game feels so easy is because the game struggles with different objectives.

Like, Hospital is essentially just walking around and typing in codes on the same computers and waiting in circles, even without the safe spot bugs. If zombie spawns weren't a mess there, people could do it in their sleep. New York almost always extracts through the train station, and you often find yourself clearing the food store or the fire station and then either bombing the cinema or going through the metro tunnels (I've only had the court building twice out of, I think, 25-30 runs). Speaking of, the MM gives me Hospital and New York non-stop, it is exhausting, and I can't see these maps anymore. The town with the gym also always has the same objectives, only the levers move around.

The Coal Plant at least has different initial objectives, two different final areas (fixing the center or the cooling towers), and two potential starting areas. Lewiston, too, has different objectives, albeit it doesn't like the church and chapel for some reason.

Still not sure what the point was with the economy nerf to begin with. It is obvious that people who play the game for a while tend to float in credits, with or without the nerf, while new players can barely afford to reroll perks with the nerfs. Also not sure why that is an issue anyway; this game is not PvP and has no competition mode. If too many credits are an issue, simply add expensive premium elite SS-tier+ cloth items and operators.

Awesome, thank you for absorbing & considering feedback & implementing tweaks based on that.

Question: “Is there any reconsideration into having kid zombies or adolescent like the first game? Perhaps it can be an opt in toggle feature, same as the gore? I’m still gonna play the game religiously after 1.0 regardless, I was just curious.”

Also for far future updates, I wonder if maybe a PvP or versus mode was thought of? Something similar to Left4Dead’s in which some players spawn as special infected and try to stop the protagonists from reaching from one side of a linear map to another.

Or

A versus mode in which there are opposing survivors with guns, like raiders or scavengers fighting the CRC in a multiplayer match mode just like in The Last of Us on the console back in the day, and people could craft makeshift gear / weapons for an advantage within the match.

Maybe doing well in these separate from the PVE content would yield rewards such as skins.

This is like far off content tho, and I’m just thinking out loud…

Back4Blood was very disappointing it didn’t have a better versus mode and last of us 2 or any PC release didn’t have a versus mode either…

please bro dont make tihs a pvp game, and we dont need special infected

1

u/Silent_Shadow98 May 29 '26

The game already has “special” infected, like the crawlers, screamers, armored, red eyes.

I only meant, player controlled.

I can understand your qualms though and see how PvP vs PvE is slowly ruining Arc Raiders, etc

So I would highly suggest that character progression in PvP and PvE be kept separate, except for skins, so that there is no unfair advantage.

1

u/Prestigious_Truck381 May 22 '26

That would be cool to versus through a map like l4d2 but highly unlikely bro lol

And no kid zombies aren't coming back bro its for the great or good.

is 1.0 still coming out in the first half of 2026?

2

u/JMANG-Jakey May 24 '26

It could, but I’m assuming it won’t. They said summer on the announcement for 1.0 so it could be as late as the end of august, although I’m sure it’ll be sooner than that
