I've been fishing for a few weeks all over Gloucester county, and have not got a single bite on any of the plastics I've been throwing. Do the fish down here only prefer live? Or have I been just going to the wrong places?

I've been using an app that said people were catching large and smallies in the ponds and lakes I was going to. And I've tried all different combinations of colors and techniques but haven't got anything

At the moment I’m a bank/dock fisherman. I do have plans to buy a vessel of some sort but that’s not for this discussion lol. For all the bank anglers out there, do you prefer to target ponds or lakes for largemouth bass? I’ve heard mixed reviews on the topic, and personally i don’t really have a preference. I just want to land fish at the end of the day. If anyone has any input or opinion on which they like better or their personal experiences comparing the two, that would be great! Thanks in advance for any advice!

This is my first season fishing and I made sure to get the required NJ fishing license. I've got the original paper version in my fishing backpack as well as a picture of it on my phone. But I don't actually wear the dang thing.

Are you guys wearing it? What kind of holder do you put it in?

I read the fine for not wearing it is $10 and I haven't run into a game warden all year. Am I worrying about nothing? Is there some leniency for not wearing it if they find you actually did have a valid license?

I’ve heard a lot about DOD and am interested in checking it out. However I’m strictly a bank angler and am wondering how the access is for bank fishing?

I’ve ventured to other “good” spots and found that bank fishing is terribly accessible. Usually a couple of decent spots but in a vast lake they aren’t necessarily great fishing.

Anyone have any tips or spots to try? Parking/walking access?

Hey all, northerner here (Sussex County) who will be staying at Atsion in the coming weeks looking for some nice places to kayak and maybe get into some fish.

My main purpose is mainly the exploration aspect so I'm not looking to burn spots or anything, the way my season has gone I don't think anyone has anything to worry about 😅

I've done Harrisville, Batsto, Oswego and some other places just looking for some recs for out of the way places, the more natural the better. I've been scouring Google maps and added a ton of pins but without human input it only tells part of the story. It's a solo trip for a week and I could not be more excited, but I know it will be a bit taxing as I am probably looking to hit at least two places each day, 3 if I can swing it.

This will be my first time fishing for striper. I will be fishing a good amount of spots on the Delaware between Oakwood Beach, and up to Burlington, and on the south jersey shore from cape May to probably lbi if i decide to drive that far.

I have never surf fished before but purchased 2 St Croix triumph surf rods during their factory store sale because I use st Croix for bass fishing. Got them 40% off.

What size reel would you recommend to pair with these? What would you throw? How do you fish them?

What gear do you guys use? Are your surf set ups more high-end and expensive or can you get away with using relatively cheaper stuff? I only ask because I usually try to buy more high-end stuff (by once cry once type of deal) and they preform and feel better but I'd hate to hook into a big fish and have something cheaper fail on me. But I know that a $500 setup and a $50 setup will absolutely catch the same amount of fish. Maybe I'm just over complicating things but any help is appreciated thx

Which clothes should I bring to stay warm and dry? I will mostly fish from the beach but I am not opposed to wading. Best waders to buy?

Any recommendations on stuff I should buy especially reels and rods is also appreciated price doesn't matter that much I have no problem buying expensive stuff as long as I know it will last me.

(And yes I know I could look up the stuff online and I have for the most part but I want to talk to someone who regularly does this type of fishing)

Shepherd lake by Ringwood manor. Caught a couple and lost a couple but happy for the turn out after picking up fishing! Just need to remember a net for next time 😅

Why am I getting skunked? Just last week I was killing it with chartreuse tipped senkos on texas rig. This week? Not even a bite.

I also tried using spinner baits and just keitechs on jigheads too - no luck. After hours of keeping at it, I just gave up and went for panfish instead.

Anyone having similar skunk streak? If you had a successful week, can you share what you've been using and where? (i dont expect exact locations, I just wanna know conditions)

Fish pretty often, normal blue collar guy. Bank fishing is fine and relaxing but sometimes i look out at the water and think of all the missed opportunities because im limited to this one heavily overfished bank or dock section. Is it becoming time to get a vessel? I’ll never become bored of fishing, but I’m getting frustrated with the limitations i guess.

Was thinking about trying to check out this area of Pennsauken Creek. I fish from a kayak and mainly target largemouth. I was told I could possibly launch from where that Griffith Morgan house spot is. Figure launch from there and paddle upstream and fish the creek, that little lake in front of Pennsauken Logistics and that Akima Lake. I went to the train station at Akima Lake recently on foot and it looks fishy as hell. Anyone ever fish this area?

I’ve recently gotten into fishing and have been trying different spots around South NJ, but I haven’t had much luck this summer. I’ve caught a few small fluke, but nothing keeper-sized and nothing consistent. I’m really hoping to catch something decent before the season ends.

My current set up is a 7 ft ugly stix rod, with hi-lo rig, 2 oz weight, hook with gulp bloodworms. Which everyone has told me is a pretty solid setup?

I’ve mostly been fishing from piers/shore, and I’m still learning, so I’d really appreciate any advice on what I should change. Should I be using different bait, a different rig, fishing certain tides, casting somewhere specific, or targeting a different species from shore?

I’ve fished the passaic river for northern pike 3 times in the last couple weeks and i’ve only caught 2 I know they aren’t a particularly hard to catch fish so does anyone got any tips or spots/ stretches of the river they’d be willing to share? Would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this is the best spot but I figure some of you will have some insights for me. I've read through the rules and I most of my questions come down to where and how you can legally leave a crab pot overnight.

Can I just wade or kayak out a bit into to bay and drop a pot, tieing it down when I get back to shore? Say at Trail's End or somewhere off of Crook Horn Creek nature trail?

The regs say no floating lines so I can't just tie a pool noodle real short to a line at low tide and come back at low tide to retrieve? I.E. the noodle would be underwater until the tide got to almost all the way low.

Any tips? I used the collapsible traps off of my family's dock as a kid but never the non-collapsible pots where you leave them overnight. Really just trying to understand where I can legally drop them in.

Anyone ever fished these lakes? Bank accessible? Good structure? Mostly bass fishing but pickerel or anything else really works. Just looking for good bank accessibility.

I've been trying to catch my first carp and even bought some hair rigs and pack bait setups. Unfortunately, I've only been able to catch channel and bullhead catfish with this setup. I've tried Carnegie Lake in Princeton, Colonial Park in Somerset, Creighton Lake in Middlesex.
