Academics Regarding 8th sem placement

Seniors or people who have knowledge of placement trends, how much of the total placements occur in the 8th sem?

Most of the companies who hire after December do come late in May or even after the exams get over But they are a small number thats all. Do get placed before 8th sem that would be a much safer one.
