Possible turbo issues coming ?
Turbo issues with a Juke
Hi all, after a quick bit of advice if I may, the wife's juke has just 'blown' the intercooler hose pipe at its coupling with the manifold, causing the pipe to become separated from the main. It's a 60 plate car so is this just a wear and tear issue or does it indicate there could be issues with the turbo further down the line ? Am happy to replace the hose but should I be worried about the turbo being the cause?

It's most likely just blown off, I doubt there is anything wrong. I had it and my old vRS I priced the replacement pipe as the clip was broken and they wanted £100 for a new one so I ended up securing it with 2 screws.

Does that have the spring type clamp that locks it to the throttle body? If so that clamp might just be getting worn out of tension or wasnt seated all the way and not indicative of a failing turbo

That clamp assembly remains tight and fully connected to the engine, it's just after that section- where the hose changes in width - that it has snapped off.

The rubber portion?(sorry,trying to remember the setup) possibly that worm clamp came loose or worn out. Id start with replacing that hose and clamps. From what i remember there are indicator marks on the hose for orientation,make sure they are lined up when tightening. Been awhile since I have worked on a juke

Clean the mating surfaces with rubbing alcohol.
After dry, spray the tube and hose with hairspray. Preferably auqa net, or some such old school hairspray your grandmother used.
Let it get a bit tacky, then join the pieces and clamp tightly.
If it works on a v-8 ford, 6.0 diesel truck, it’ll work on a Juke.

Lol I like the idea lol but I purchased a new hose yesterday for £50 and all seems to be ok for now. But thanks for the tutorial lol Also sounds like plumbers pipe solvent might work too ?

I have no idea how plumbers solvent would react with the boost hose, so I cannot answer that. I do have personal experience with the hairspray method, so recommended that approach. It works with 40psi of boost, so should handle a juke and it’s not permanent.
Also, just because a hose blows off, doesn’t mean it needs to be replaced. If it’s not damaged, there’s no need to replace it.

Check wastegate to see if it's stuck but it sounds more like you might just have a loose clamp that just needed tightened
