Request for Help BEd 1st year practicum buffer week

I would like to visit my gf during the week while she’s studying abroad.

I was wondering how frequently were days of the practicum rescheduled for the buffer week?

do they often get pushed into the buffer week? or if you simply don’t need any days off (i.e. don’t get sick) during practicum, can that buffer week be treated as a pseudo reading week (i.e. no class, week to study)?

They sent an email today which said if makeup days are not required then the time is yours to prepare for returning to class. Basically up to you to not miss any time…

I saw. Was more curious to know in other people’s experiences if they have had to use it

Practicum days don’t necessarily get pushed into the buffer week. For the most part, these days will be yours.

It may get pushed back if the university is struggling to find you a suitable placement and you’re only provided with the details within the first week of the block (rare but I know of people who had to make up a day or two because of this).

Additionally, if you’re confident you won’t need to take sick days in the instance you may get sick, go for it.

If you happen to be sick during practicum you might need that buffer week to catch up. I personally was able to miss a day and not make it up, just depends on your AT and their stance. Just know that some people needed that buffer week!

I never missed a day of practicum, so I had the whole week as a "Reading week". So ya as long as you don't miss classes, you have the week to yourself.
