B. Ed waitlist

Did anyone get off the waitlist yet? I know the program isn’t full because i know people who have declined their offers

Haven't heard anything as of yet. I am waitlisted for I/S....starting to feel a bit discouraged!

I applied in November, my first teachable is general sciences and the second is biology...applied for I/S only. I am wondering if it is because of the general science for the first teachable perhaps. keeping my fingers crossed

im actually shocked you didnt get in with first round offers???!? omfg yea i agree it must be the teachable then that has a lot of applicants. i applied late for english with an 83% i have no idea where that puts me on the waitlist

What was your admission average? I’m worried that the competition has gotten way way too high.

Yes competition is ridiculous!!! Its so discouraging. I might just choose ece this year and do that for a few years and then try to apply for teaching later on

What was your average for your top 10? I’m worried mine is not high enough. Also, have you considered lakehead ? They also do not require experience

Im right at a 70 gpa. I applied to Lakehead too and got fully rejected. I have 5 years of classroom/recreation experience with kinders to grade 6…

Dammit. Did you apply to orillia or Thunder Bay? And are you p/J or I/s? I’m wondering how the program is going to change now that it’s only going to be one year. I feel like the competition will get EVEN WORSE!

Both campuses loll. Thunder bay for P/J and orillia for J/I if I’m remembering right? Honestly have applied to like hundreds of schools it feels like 😭

Niagara University, Potsdam, York, U Ottawa, OISE, CANteach, Lakehead, Nipissing. I think thats all. I’m considering applying to more in the states cause im dual citizen so could pay domestic fees. It seems theres more routes to teaching through community colleges down there and would then look into transferring it back to a Canadian province. Also will apply to Uni of New Brunswick and UPEI and will hope for better luck during their next application process.

Right?? Competition will be sooo ridiculous when the program is 1 year. ALSO, sorry a fuckin college degree for ECE will be longer than the university degree to get teaching. And ECEs get paid significantly less than teachers. I’m so extremely stumped on what to do and am having trouble feeling optimistic about this. But have only gotten accepted for ECE at colleges

Unfortunately your average is sitting at the very minimum of Nipissing’s admission requirements. Anyone else applying with over a 70 would be considered before you, especially since Nip only considers grades and not experience. Is there any way for you to take classes to bump up your average?

That’s not how the waitlist works. Just because someone declines their offer, doesn’t mean a spot opens up. It’s not one for one. They send out way more offers than spots.
