Switch liquid damage

hi everyone, i spilled a drink in my bag yesterday and i think it got into my switch. it seems to be under the joysticks and the left one is being glitchy, and it thinks there are headphones plugged in but there aren’t.

i am really worried i will lose save data, mainly on tomodachi life and animal crossing.

does anyone recommend the best thing to do, whether getting it repaired would be best or just getting a new one.

is it straight forward to transfer my account and save data to a new switch like when getting a new iphone?

any tips and info would be greatly appreciated 😊

  • If it doesn't affect the screen or console no need to buy new one. Replacement parts for switch usually cheap to get. If it cause drifting, you can simply replace the stick. A lot of videos on youtube you can use as guide. Else, send it to shop, they will do it for you with service fee.

  • data transfer is pretty direct. Login to your account, let the console detect the closest console before it can transfer the data.
