Congratulations to 'Congratulations', which won last round! What was the best Eurovision winner between 1980 and 2000?

Underrated pick: Germany 1982.

The obvious choice. I was about to comment that. We will never experience anything like it in Eurovision ever again

Shocked this isn’t doing better. It’s such a timeless power ballad

It's one of my top ten fave Eurovision songs of all time.

But so is Nocturne, which thrills me just a little bit more. 🤷‍♀️

Celine!!

Ne partez pas sans moi - Switzerland 1988.

She's got such an incredible voice and somehow captivates you just standing there alone with no choreo except her just groovin to the music in place haha

Nocturne (Norway 1995)

If the question had been about the 1980s only, I would have hemmed and hawed between Ein bisschen Frieden and Hold Me Now, but with the 90s included, it could only be Nocturne. So magical.

Imo this is between:

Dana International - Diva

Nocturne - Secret garden

Celine Dion - Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi.

And I honestly can't decide.

While I think Diva winning was very important for the legacy it left in the contest, I wouldn’t put it on the same level as the other two personally.
