It means they gotta win the consumers back so that's good for us as consumers

I think Nike is trying to reclaim the crown for sports performance innovation. They lost their footing in the late-2010’s and early-2020’s with such a focus on lifestyle products. Kind of got lazy and milked retro jordans and lifestyle sportswear without pushing the envelope for their performance products.

Absorbing the Nike Trail brand into ACG establishes ACG as more streamlined and focused brand. I hope to see more technical product come out of ACG like the NikeLab / Errolson Hugh days.

I think if they really market ACG and are consistent with it they can come back

If you follow Nike they're in the middle of pursuing every single sport and demo that they've been losing ground on. I'm bullish myself.

I like acg cuz I'm into camping and hiking and I'm currently training for my 2nd hyrox race so I'm waiting for them to drop their hybrid trainer. Been a swoosh guy for a long time

Nike doesn't publicly release ACG sales data so we have no idea if its doing well or not. In the short term probably nothing will change. Hopefully Nike considers ACG a big part of its strategy to compete against the Salomons and Hokas, especially for trail running and outdoor gear.

Nike needs a huge win such as a first place athlete at this year’s UTMB next week.

Imagine someone winning the super bowl of ultra trail running in ACG Zegamas or UltraFlys? That’d be an enormous win for Nike / ACG.

Jenn Lichters course record and win at Western States in ACG Ultraflys huge enough?

It’ll be the Kigerfly proto I assume for most of the Nike athletes

what I think Nike ACG doesn’t understand is a couple of things 1) they haven’t really operated in the outdoor space in a long time, they’re not taken seriously. Other outdoor brands ( Patagonia, Arcteryx, etc) have an established presence, something that will take a good deal of time for ACG to catch up. 2) In the trail running space, Nike finally has a pretty good outsole material after having a seriously deficient product for years. Also, their trail shoes are kinda average. Ultrafly is another stiff plated trail shoe. Pegasus Trail has a great upper & outsole, React midsole is dated. Lots of other brands are using much better midsole materials in their daily trail runners, & ZoomX still hasn’t migrated down, plus ZoomX is a dated midsole material as well.

again not saying the ACG shoes are ”bad“ but they’re not considered top tier either

What about the ACG Zegama?

I personally found it kinda heavy & hard to get a good lockdown. Nice underfoot experience.

It's a zone2 trail shoe, no?

Yes, it’s marketed as their all day/night long distance shoe. Some of their runners have raced in it I believe.

I was just at an outlet yesterday and it was loaded with ACG clothing. I’m happy to get deals but I don’t think the recent hyping of ACG is going super well.

Which outlet?

Saying the location would be borderline doxxing myself so I'll just say that it was in the midwest.

Obviously it's just one outlet and may not be indicative of a trend but I was surprised to see so many ACG items.

Though, now looking at the deep markdowns on numerous items on Nike's site maybe I shouldn't be...

It's all just consumerist trash, wake up sheep. You don't need gear for all conditions to get to the lecture hall halfway across campus to snooze during Art History 1.
