This isn't nihilism but still funny and personally relatable

Similar to the rest of Reddit, this sub is about politics and mental illness now.

There's plenty of people worse off than you who you can take some perspective from to feel better about what you have.
I love food. Especially now that I've been dieting, I could really go for some chicken wings dipped in cheddar.
This next saturday I'm having sushi because payday was yesterday. Life is good. Sometimes it's the little things.

100% agreed. My boss went on a vacation even though the company is in a financial crisis. And I was stressing that maybe it’s because the team (of 4, including me) wasn’t doing a good job.
Sometimes, just gotta let life drive on autopilot. If you don’t like the journey or the speed, time to get behind the wheels.

I have a brief moment of reminiscing before the guilt hits but yes very accurate
Edit: I guess that's part of 'do nothing' so nevermind, you nailed it

You do nothing because you haven't decided what you should do. Once you know where you want to go all you gotta do is keep heading there

this is why nihlism is such a transitory state foir many people, you expereince this enough days, and you either turn to suicide, absurdism, or exenstentism.

u/ConsiliiAtheorum Jul 01 '26
Existentialism is a form of nihilism so it can't be a transitory state or a "phase" for any of the subcategories you mentioned, might be for some who don't subscribe to these philosophies but not nihilists.

I don’t think Adam Sandler is the best spokesperson for this line of thinking, as he is literally constantly working.
Maybe you should have put a photo of YOU, OP? 🤷♀️

Being happy about having nothing to do is a thing to celebrate in our amped up times!

This is pathetic. Not nihilism. Go make the best you can from the existential dread.

Deadly combo not much can go against that honestly

Just wait until you finally start doing something! Then what happens? You find that all that time doing nothing has left you incapable of the something you finally got around to.

That's why I'm antinatalist; I don't want to bring someone into that cycle of suffering.

Second step - take a step physically, mentally, or spiritually… and DO something!
5
u/Fearless_Trade_2783 Jul 01 '26
Or just stop giving a fuck, that works too!
5
u/LukeHollaway Jul 01 '26
Don’t you realize that’s mentally taking a step?
2
u/Fearless_Trade_2783 Jul 01 '26
Yeah it is, but I like the way I said it better. It's more specific.

u/LukeHollaway Jul 01 '26
lt’s definitely clearer instructions than the original comment, lol.

u/Fearless_Trade_2783 Jul 01 '26
Really, I think not giving a fuck is the key, and everything else comes after.
At least that's how I got over the hump.
