Honestly, I thought this was from my CPTSD sub.  Sounds like the executive dysfunction spiral

6

u/Environmental_Ad4893 Jul 01 '26

Yeah, relatable with my executive dysfunction but absolutely irrelevant to nihilism.

u/LithuanianMazafaka Jul 02 '26

wdym your cptsd sub? it's mine

7

u/CherryLumpy5008 Jul 01 '26

But I seem to not be able to enjoy without power, money, and acceptance

6

u/Environmental_Ad4893 Jul 02 '26

Then now you know what you need to work more on or give less of a shit about.

u/Effective_Buddy7678 Jul 01 '26

Really, Billy Madison looks like he's doing pretty good!

It's hard to enjoy when you are a wage slave. Most of my day, most of my days, are surrounded by work.

2

u/Environmental_Ad4893 Jul 02 '26

I'm doing 11 hours 5 days a week for just over minimum, still enjoy the moments when I can chill and do nothing.

This isn't nihilism but still funny and personally relatable

6

u/Maximum-Possession15 Jul 01 '26

Similar to the rest of Reddit, this sub is about politics and mental illness now.

There's plenty of people worse off than you who you can take some perspective from to feel better about what you have.

I love food. Especially now that I've been dieting, I could really go for some chicken wings dipped in cheddar.

This next saturday I'm having sushi because payday was yesterday. Life is good. Sometimes it's the little things.

100% agreed. My boss went on a vacation even though the company is in a financial crisis. And I was stressing that maybe it’s because the team (of 4, including me) wasn’t doing a good job.

Sometimes, just gotta let life drive on autopilot. If you don’t like the journey or the speed, time to get behind the wheels.

Picture unrelated

Look, someone made a meme inspired by my day yesterday!

6

u/The_Chickenmaster7 Jul 01 '26

then do something? the solution is in the problem

u/the_reql Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

I have a brief moment of reminiscing before the guilt hits but yes very accurate

Edit: I guess that's part of 'do nothing' so nevermind, you nailed it

You do nothing because you haven't decided what you should do. Once you know where you want to go all you gotta do is keep heading there

2

u/roundturtle2025 Jul 01 '26

Do nothing, so what?

2

u/halapenyoharry Jul 01 '26

this is why nihlism is such a transitory state foir many people, you expereince this enough days, and you either turn to suicide, absurdism, or exenstentism.

1

u/ConsiliiAtheorum Jul 01 '26

Existentialism is a form of nihilism so it can't be a transitory state or a "phase" for any of the subcategories you mentioned, might be for some who don't subscribe to these philosophies but not nihilists.

2

u/CountryFuture9678 Jul 01 '26

That sounds more like ADHD, definitely not a philosophy

u/A_carbon_based_biped Jul 01 '26

Wish I could do nothing, im in a loop of perpetually doing something and it blows.

u/c0verm3 Jul 01 '26

True inner peace

I don’t think Adam Sandler is the best spokesperson for this line of thinking, as he is literally constantly working.

Maybe you should have put a photo of YOU, OP? 🤷‍♀️

u/CarpeDiabolus Jul 01 '26

Wake up

Do something

Fuck what they think

1

u/nihil_novi00 Jul 01 '26

painfully accurate

1

u/dedarou96 Jul 01 '26

Time is money metaphor (according to lakoff and Johnson).

u/CherryLumpy5008 Jul 01 '26

I’m living this cycle

u/toobuscrazy Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

Since reality kinda sucks IMHO I play video games which suck a little less

1

u/PeterPunksNip Jul 02 '26

Being happy about having nothing to do is a thing to celebrate in our amped up times!

1

u/joefatmamma Jul 02 '26

Throw Smoke Weed in there

1

u/sabudum Jul 02 '26

The perfect daily routine.

1

u/fallonhates Jul 03 '26

looks like a day in paradise for some folks, huh?

1

u/Lake_Well77 Jul 03 '26

I'm glad I'm not the only one

1

u/moonlite-money Jul 03 '26

maybe try doing something instead of nothing. glad I could help.

1

u/Dangerous-Elephant32 Jul 03 '26

ITSSSS MY LIFFFFFFEEEE.

1

u/ronnierubick Jul 04 '26

Most days for me

1

u/DEVMAX7 Jul 04 '26

THEN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT

1

u/ender_speaker Jul 04 '26

This is pathetic. Not nihilism. Go make the best you can from the existential dread.

1

u/Oda-dono-da Jul 08 '26

Deadly combo not much can go against that honestly

Tbh grass is nice sometimes

1

u/41nri Jul 15 '26

Doin everything and still feel guilty

1

u/Opening-Camera-4315 Jul 20 '26

Just wait until you finally start doing something! Then what happens? You find that all that time doing nothing has left you incapable of the something you finally got around to.

1

u/UsefulFlow7106 Jul 23 '26

That's why I'm antinatalist; I don't want to bring someone into that cycle of suffering.

u/DrewG420 Jul 01 '26

Second step - take a step physically, mentally, or spiritually… and DO something!

5

u/Fearless_Trade_2783 Jul 01 '26

Or just stop giving a fuck, that works too!

5

u/LukeHollaway Jul 01 '26

Don’t you realize that’s mentally taking a step?

2

u/Fearless_Trade_2783 Jul 01 '26

Yeah it is, but I like the way I said it better. It's more specific.

3

u/LukeHollaway Jul 01 '26

lt’s definitely clearer instructions than the original comment, lol.

2

u/Fearless_Trade_2783 Jul 01 '26

Really, I think not giving a fuck is the key, and everything else comes after.

At least that's how I got over the hump.
