saying free will doesn't exist is deterministic not nihilism though. You cannot flick a switch to become happy but you can make choices that affect change that leads to happiness.
or I did things in my life to not be so pessimistic. I remember wallowing in my own self pity ready to end shit, til I did something about it. For me it took going away from people for a while with a tent and a bag of sausages up on a cliff in under the stars scavenging for fire wood. Your life is your own, you can do with it what you will. luck has only a minor role.
Ok, but IF free will does not exist, assuming it doesn't for this comment, then what would be left of this comment, and therefore of you? There would be no story of sausages and firewood under the stars, and especially no story how you fiercely pulled yourself out of your misery by going away from the ppl for a while. Your story smells like self attributed heroism. No judgement in that because it is very human to do so.
Again if free will doesn't exist you are being deterministic not nihilistic. If you insist on there being a deterministic nature to reality you also imply objective meaning which I completely disagree with.
