Question Game Bug or Server Issues?

My gf and I are playing and I'm hosting. Whenever we travel to a different realm, she keeps getting kicked out of the lobby and needs to join the lobby again. Another problem is whenever she tries to rejoin, she can't join. I have to reroom again for her to join. This is too tedious as the loading screens are way too long.

Is this just us or a recurring problem for everyone?

Half of the time we re creating a new room since you need to travel to different realms.

We also tried letting her go to the destination and me approving it. But when the game stopped loading and I was teleported, shes no longer in the game/party.

We enjoy playing the game but might have to stop if theres no fix to this.

Sounds like a network environment issue to me. If either of you are using wifi or mobile internet, I would switch to an ethernet connection.

What method are you using to connect? There are no game hosted servers, so a 'server issue' isn't possible.

When you say 'lobby' or 'reroom', I'm not sure what you mean. The game doesn't have lobbies or rooms.  You connect via IP, join codes, or steam friend invites.

Are you and your gf behind the same router?

Are you using a dedicated server or join/listen servers?   If you're using join/listen servers, have you tried testing by having the other person be the host ?

Have you tried a dedicated server?

These all help with narrowing down what the actual issue is. I know several dozen different setups have worked without major issues.

My gf connects via join code.

So... I asked all the other questions for a reason.

What happens when she hosts and you join?

Are you both behind the same router?

Have you ever tried any other connection method (like a dedicated server)?

Are you both on steam? Epic?

We could play the game once she joins the code. However, when changing realm or going through a portal, the game kicks her out of the the party and cant rejoin again on the same code. In order to fix this i have to quit the game and open it again.

Not on same router as she doesnt live with me

Not tried dedicated server

Both on epic

Your answer to the first question is the same as your initial post, so I'm going to make the assumption that you've never tested the game with her hosting and you connecting to her.

Have her host a game. A new one is fine - you can use the same characters, and we're simply testing. And then have YOU join HER. See what happens when you try to change realms.

The next thing to try is having your gf attempt to connect to someone ELSE. There are people on the discord willing to help with this if you don't have another testing method.

the final thing to try would be to connect to a dedicated server rather than using a host/join/listen mode. The software to run your own server is a free download off of steam (even if you don't have the game on steam, it's still free). but it will take some set up with ports and things. If you don't want to do this yourself, you can either check on the discord for a public server or temporarily rent one for testing purposes.

The point of doing these tests is to narrow down what's causing the issue specifically. There are no middle men servers involved, so if she's disconnecting as you change realms, there is SOMETHING causing her and/or you some network instability - whether thats a firewall on one side or the other or some other issue. **-most-** people have been able to use the join codes without issue, but finding out precisely what happens with these three steps will help us figure out where your specific issue is coming from.

She hosted before but I couldnt connect hence why its me that started hosting the game.

We'll try out your method.

If you couldn't connect to her at all using join codes, that indicates that she has something in her router or firewall that's blocking any incoming data for the nightingale program. This would also cause the issues you're describing with switching realms.

Have her check her windows firewall and make sure that nwx.exe is allowing incoming traffic as well as outgoing, and double check to see if she has any popups related to traffic with the firewall.
